As some of you may know I'm new to this forum... and I've recently bought a 2010 Fourwinns H180... well my buddy told me if i don't name my boat bad thing will happen... I never believe this talk but I'm starting to feel there is some truth in it!

1st boat ride - AWESOME!!! fell in love with the boat there!

2nd boat ride - At my parents cottage, 9PM at night taking the boat out of the water getting eaten alive by mosquitoes! My step dad backs the truck up and I drive it right one! PERFECT! With the trailer still in the water I get my boat ready to pull out... lean over the front and latch it on to the trailer, lean over the side to grab my bumpers then get toss back in my seat as my step dad take off in the truck and plows into the SAND ramp with my tilt still down! Not happy about a small dent in the prop and some scratches on a 1 week old boat!

3rd boat ride - AWESOME!!! Had a blast on the lake good times....... until! I go to get my truck in the parking lot to find out somebody hit my trailer and took off.... dented the wheel well and broke a light as well as some nice scratches! Never left a number and f***ed off!

4th boat ride - Launch the boat leave the dock going about 5mph and we hit bottom out of NO WHERE! Trout lake is a very deep lake so this came to a suprise to all of us! Thank god it was just sandy bottom didn't touch the boat and again added more chips and scrapes to my prop!

Needless to say I love this boat but damn where is the luck!

Also me being me... I cant stand to look at the destroyed prop on my new boat some I'm going to buy a new one and send this one to get repaired and keep it as a spare in the boat JUST incase.... What do you guys suggest for a Merc 3.0L

Thanks Todd!!!

I didn't know it was customary to name a bowrider but if I were you, I would definitely name that baby quick. Don't worry about the mishaps though as it happens to all of us. Like the ol' man used to say "if you stand out in the rain, you will get wet". In other words, if you use your boat, you will eventually get a nick or a ding. You are having fun and that is what counts.

Yup, you had better name it NOW!!!

Like 298 Vista said, if you use it, it's going to get dinged up. Best thing is, now you have a few, so the rest aren't so bad! I have already put my fair share of nicks & scratches in ours as well.

About the prop, if you are going to a stainless, a friendly fellow from down under on this board, goes by the name of Ardy, is running a Mercury Vengeance with good results. I believe he is running the 19" pitch version of this prop. I am running an Enertia, which probably is giving me about the same results as Ardy. For the massive dollar difference between the two, I would just stick with the Vengeance, just so you don't cry as hard if you ding it.... (I've been close already  ). Other options would be a 4 blade alpha 4 aluminium, but I would guess you would loose a few mph at the top end, but gain some hole shot.

Yup, Trout Lake is deep, but there are some spots to watch out for!

A name will come to you....i would stay away from anything like "Prop Killer" though....you can get that prop re-worked with no prob I'm sure and it will be new again......you may look and pick up a re-worked used aluminum prop for a spare from the prop shop. If it were me I would not invest too much in a new prop until you get a feel for what change in prop pitch you may need (IF ANY).

Post some pics of your new ride...

Any way, let me know what you guys think about this. My wife is a Correctional officer and I work as a Food Service officer at the North Bay Jail (this is my part time job, I sell cars full time) so we were thinking of names and my wife came out with this.... Inmates like to call Correctional Officers (CO's) "screws"... so the name is

"SCREW N' A COOK"

I've also come across which i like as well is : PISTON BROKE

I bought the prop at Idyltyme. Mike and I worked the prop in through a deal we had with some other stuff going on, so I can't say the price that I paid for it, but his retail is $900..... If you really want that prop, it is probably cheaper to look on e-bay. I have seen them there for $600.

If I had to pay full price, heck even if I had to pay $600, I think I would be getting the vengeance. Like I mentioned earlier, Ardy is running the same boat and power as both of us, and he is seeing about the same top speed numbers as I am.

I will be out there this weekend numerous times too. Actually I am leaving in about 15 minutes for an early morning run. If I am out and see ya, I will be sure to say hi!

We are talking about 45 mph on the speedo with the boat lightly loaded. That is in comparison to the 42 mph I would see with the stock black max aluminum. The 3 mph gain is pretty much had across the speed range while the boat is on plane.

I am heading out on the water now, but will be off again late this morning for a while. Have to put my orange on and see how Holland does in the world cup! So if you are out at 10:00, I might be out still for a bit. I'll keep a lookout for ya.

Hi mate - I hear you! We take delivery of our new boat on Thursday afternoon and we need a name pronto before it's maiden voyage on Friday.

It's going to get a "working title" if we don't think of a permanent name quickly!
