We had an arguably the best boating week of our life last week at 1000 Islands. Weather was as good as we can get for a week and only 30 minutes of brief thunderstorm on Wednesday evening. We were out on the water everyday and put serious hours to our boat and Jet Ski… I was surprised that there are many Four Winns in area last week that kept me smile :D …. This area is typically dominate by Sea Ray and many Chaparrals  so it was a good to see our brands with numbers on water . Many seemed to come from Canada. We are planning to go back there for another week long Vacation on 3rd week of August but it will be tough to beat the one we just had…

Great pictures, that looks like a fun place to explore.

Just curious, but with the barge coming that close to your house, do the kids hesitate to swim in the water? My son is deathly afraid of the weed cutter and if it's within 100 yards, he's not going in the water. I can only imagine his reaction to a large ship

barges ...... Barges? We don't need no stinkin' BARGES!

Those are the giant Great Lakes freighters (ala; Edmund Fitzgerald).

Awesome area.

I truly am sorry that we couldn't hook up and enjoy some time with you and your family. I probably should have booked a few days last week and made the trip. The weather definitely won't be as nice in August but it may be acceptable. I'll see you soon.

That is quite awesome!

This is right off of our summer home on the St.Clair River

You guys ever run out there and scream, "Hey! It's a no-wake zone dammit!"

Our house is located the narrowest section of St Lawrence River/Seaway which is little wider than 1800 feet and is a great place to watch these big ships go by.
Those freighters only come about 10 times a day so it is not as busy as you might think from pictures. They all go very slow at this section of river and wake is not as vicious as large cruisers. We are more concern on cruiser traveling fast which produce much larger and nasty wake/swell…. The most kids around us love to see these big one when they comes by…. Kids swim around our dock all the time. However, they use caution for wake and swells
I see people’s mouth gets drop open when they see the “Big One”. Especially people who never been to this area before.

It is rare but two big freighters can cross each other at this narrow section which is wild to see…. I actually caught one on camera this year

Amazing. What would be equally amazing would be to watch you paint the end of that house that faces the water. ;)
