Some pictures from our recent trip across Lake Michigan. Green Bay-Sturgeon Bay-Frankfort-Petoskey-Charlevoix. We had a great trip and great weather, I love the Michigan side of the lake. Water is so clear!
This is what greeted us last Friday morning when we pulled through the Sturgeon Bay shipping channel into Lake Michigan

You can barely make out one of the boats in our group under the wiperblade. Below is Jacobson Marina in Frankfort. One of the nicest marina's we've stayed at.

After leaving Petoskey we cruised trhough Bay Harbor, surprised there wasnt a credit check to get in there and drive around! One of the homes and an 86 foot Azimut.

Great pics and looks like you had a super time!

It looks like the boats are downsizing for the summer in Charlevoix (I'm not referring to yours either) :D There was at least one if not more that would have made 'Hourglass' look like a dinghy if you can believe that.

Time to start planning next year's trip....beaver island, mackinaw island, & cheboygan maybe?

Great pics and thanks for sharing! I was happy to hear you liked Jacobson marina considering we will be staying there in a couple of weeks! Since we will also be staying in Charlevoix and Petoskey I was wondering if you have any recommendations for things to see or good places to eat? Thanks!

In Frankfort we ate at the Village Pub on the deck, and visited Crescent Bakery every morning. Both within walking distance of the marina. Jacobson is great, they have a pool and jacuzi and do cater to boaters. The owner was walking the docks with a beverage both nights we were there.
Petoskey is awesome, the marina facilities are a little run down. Also they put you against the wall on the dock that has public access. They have a great pizza place, I forget the name, we ate on the deck that overlooks the harbor, and a great coffee joint "roast and toast." Jesperons is supposed to be awesome as well. Take a day trip to the beach, anchor off and enjoy the clear water, searching for Petoskey stones was a favorite pastime of my wife. We also took a day trip to Harbor Springs, they have a shoppers dock, and we ate at the Stafford there, again overlooking the harbor.

In Charlevoix we ate at the Stafford Weathervane for lunch and Whitneys Oyster Bar for dinner both had great food, shopping was minimal but the marina was one of the nicest we've stayed at.

This was our first time at all of these places, someone who has been there a time or two may chime in with some other places to dine.

We heard we just missed the Cracker Bay, a 147 foot yacht.
Next years trip is already coming together, possibly Fayette-Traverse City-Charlevoix, maybe mackinaw as well. Although your destinations sound good as well!!!

On your next trip by..... as you round the point at the tip of the Sleeping Bear Dunes, and go toward Glen Arbor, wave as you go by the house I grew up in, on the shore just west of the Life Saving Station (now a national park) at Glen Haven ...... (or get me a photo!).

What a beautiful place to grow up! We spend a week at Glen Cove Marina on big Glen Lake skiing, tubing and swimming in one of the bluest lakes you'll ever find. At night we have fires on the Lake Michigan beach in Glen Haven.
