Nice pictures and thanks for the link. I would say that I am surprised they haven't tried to raise the ironclad Cerberus to restore it given it's accessibility until I realized it is 225' long and weighs over 3,000 tons. In the US, it took both private and governmental resources to raise the Hunley which was a Civil War submarine and it is now undergoing complete restoration. Of course, the Hunley was only 40 feet long.

I can't wait for the weather to warm up a bit... You must be a hardy soul if you have been out lately!

I'll be out in September JB - probably see you at Patterson River, though if the wind's from the north I tend to go from the Warmies at Newport.

Hi mate - I believe that the Warmies is closed for maintenance for the next few months, wasn't sure if you were aware. Patterson River is also well behind schedule on their refurb, last week only 1 ramp was open. I think we will be restricted to ramps 1 and 2 for a while as well which will be a pain to those of us with above 5m boats.

Thanks for the news on the ramp work JB. I heard a rumour they were going to update the Warmies - just surprised it is actually happening. Apparenlty floating pontoons instead of the pier. Call me a cynic, but I wonder which politician has a seat there... They think it will be completed by mid September. May have to use St. Kilda...

How did you go on ramp1? (I always use 3 or 4) Did you manage to drive off or float off? Just checked on the web, apparently they are ashphalting the car park (and about time) meaning various ramps will be closed at different times. All meant to be completed by the end of August. But they state... "Due to adverse weather conditions, upgrade works to car and trailer parking facilities have been delayed." What, they weren't expecting winter??

Cheers
Alec

Yeh Alec I had a chat with the manager there, he said every time they try to pour asphalt it rains.....

I didn't go on ramp 1, I haven't seen 1 or 2 open since I got the boat. Ramp 3 is my fave, ramp 4 is a bit shallow and I find driving on rather frightening as I'm afraid the engine is going to leave the water before the boat gets to the end of the trailer! Need more experience I guess.

The new car parking area around ramps 1 and 2 is looking good - will be great to see the back of all the mud. Next trip planned for Saturday - I'm guessing you're still laid up until Sepetember?
