So I think I have the same issue the OP had.

The trim housing is leaking at the white plug and when I loosen the two nuts on the shield, more oil leaks.

I need to probably call FW and see what they want to do since the FW dealer here in SC is no longer in business and we do not have a VP service center close.

I do know that the extended service was not included so hopefully since this is a known issue I will not have to deal with paying if it is a true pump housing issue.

Any help or input would be helpful on how to handle this with VP or FW?

Thanks,
Matt

Can someone post a pic of this disfunctional 'white plug'? I'd like to check mine out this weekend.

This is the best photo I have access to right now. You can't see the plug in this picture, but it's on the top left hand side of the pump. My cap is black.

There's a photo on this thread; there's another plug on the other side as well, apparently.

This is what I am seeing to a T. Hopefully Volvo is aware and will have no issue with replacing this since I am out of warranty. Waiting on a call back from Four Winns.

Have your dealer call Volvo, they may offer whats called a "good will" repair, they will do it often but not always.

That is an issue. My 'dealer' is no longer in business here and there are no other Fourwinns dealers within 100 miles.

So right now I am waiting on FW to call me back and authorize a VP delaership.

The authorized VP shop should go direct, or possibly in concert with FW, to Volvo for authorization on the 'good will" repair.

The plug is on the side of the pump, looks like a white twflon piece, mine looked like it was oozing through the plug it self, all fixed now and loving the summer, the GXi is a great engine.

Hey Tvega,

Based on what I was told at the marina. The box is not an item that you can fix. If it leaks and it isn't simply the o-rings need replacing or a screw is loose, the only possible correction is a new housing. With it being plastic and all nothing really can be exchanged.

Now if this is not what others are hearing please correct me, because I would like to know my source is also wrong.

Is that just a replacement of the current trim pump you have or is that an upgraded model? I have heard and read, on here, that these trim pumps are failure prone. Didn't know if VP had corrected the issue and that is why it is 1k to correct.

I didn't know what to look for until I read this post a couple of months ago. :x

Anyone know how long the factory warranty was for? And is it based on production date or initial sales date?
