I went through this whole compressor, fan ,fridge excercise this spring. I have a fridge in my garage with a bad compressor.
The fridge has the BD35F compressor, fan and power module still on it. The fan is indeed attached to one end of the unit
between the coils and blows on the compressor towards the power module. The compressor does not get very hot, but the power module will
and does. Thus the fan is located at the end of the unit and pulls double duty, cooling both the compressor AND the power module.
That is the way many of the Danfoss compressors are configured. Yours possibly is not set up the same way, thus the dissconnect.
Here is what most of the units look like. Including both of mine.

Fan on the right side of the picture between the coils. Mine is attached to the top of the coils with zip ties, and two screws at
the base. It is the exact same fan I linked earlier in this thread.

I would contact http://great-water.com/zcart/ (their web store)and ask them about parts/fan for the compressor. They know a heck of alot about these compressors, and were very helpful to me this year, despite them being an Isotherm/Frigoboat supplier. They may be able to help you, or at least steer you in the right direction. Here is their main site. http://www.great-water.com/

Best of luck with your repair.

That looks like my unit although I'm going by memory. You've been a great help Cap'n. I' anxious to get this fixed. Mine is fastened between the coils on all four corners. I've been able to remove the top two screws but the bottom ones are the challenge. I didn't spend a lot of time trying though since I was leaving it for the week and didn't have a replacement. I'll get more serious on it this weekend and plan to take down a couple of right angle screwdrivers I have in the shop.

Thanks again for all your help!

Apples and oranges, indeed. This is the back of my Norcold DE-451 - the original fridge, now 11+ years old. The fan placement does indeed cool both the condenser and compressor, a quite different unit from the one you guys have - but not the power supply.
