After completing the safe boating course a USCG Aux guy told us of a really good website that covers everywhere Great Lakes and the rest of the world too I have found it most reliable and accurate for Lake Erie as I only have a H200..

Weatherunderground uses the NOAA feed for their information. Better than nothing, but not that accurate in our area.

I also like the wunderground site, but not for wave data or water temps. The only sites I've ever found that have that accurately and up to the minute are ones targeted toward windsurfers, and are pay-for memberships.

On the boat I still prefer using a sirius weather setup on the chartplotter. No useful wave data, nor water temps for the Chesapeake, but you can't beat the storm and wind tracking info.

Uh, not really.

NOAA is indeed a source of weather info (some might argue it's local marine forecasts are crap). Many sites and services use it. But it's not the only source. Nor does it have anywhere near the range of display choices found on other sites. The wundermap option on wunderground does a far better job of overlaying lots of different weather data on a map.

I surfed around a bit looking for wind direction maps and note there are several new ones since I last looked. Some better than others, of course. iwindsurf.com was the one I'd seen before and it still seems to have the edge on display options.

Use what you like.
