As many of you know I have decided to sell my 298 Vista after just owning it a year due to a new baby and some health issues which only allowed me to take it out 4-5 times this summer. I am going to have to take a leave of absence from boating for a few years until I have more time, and more money (dockage and winter storage kills me). I have listed the boat locally on Craigslist and on boattrader (thank you everyone for your recomendations). believe it or not within 2 days I received about 2 dozen calls and have shown the boat to about half a dozen people in the week its been listed. I have a interested party who originally put a deposit on a wellcraft but are rethinking and hopefully, fingers crossed, will change their mind. They asked that I hold it for a few days so they can arrange for their deposit to come back so they can buy the boat, but as we all know the deal isnt done until the cash and the boat have traded hands so I thought I would also put the link for the boat here in case anyone is interested or knows anyone who may be in the market. The only downside from interested parties is the lack of AC/Heat but I have received quotes from skipper buds and Sima Marine (local marine sales and service center) to install a very nice sized AC/Heat for about $3200 so the price is negotiable to account for this if needed. I appreciate any feedback.

Very nice boat. A/C isn't too bad to install yourself...just takes some time if you have boat knowledge. Genset?

Good luck..I know clean boats are moving now. A 268 sold in MI within a few days of being listed...

So your are now a knowledgable A/C installer ?

The new STX8 unit has the same footprint as the SXF8 I'm replacing, and the controller is plug and play. Everything will hook right up.

Might be just a bit more to a complete A/C install on a boat that does not already have it than just "plug and play".

DB, your 298 looks great in the ad. You should sell her quickly I think. Good Luck.

Thanks Capn, I hate to sell her because we have been absolutely thrilled with her. The layout is, in my opinion, is the best part about it! But as you can tell the 350's also thrill me as well. I will likely be empotional when she sells.. I am half tempted to buy something small and trailerable (17'-20') just so I can go out every once and a while and beat my depression but I doubt that will happen, I would rather just wait and get something I really like.

As a 298 Vista owner, I remember when you bought her and was impressed with how clean she was. Has Winedown seen her because he is looking at a 2000 298V with 5.0's?

Price reduced to $49k, new pics added on boat trader. The interested couple I was holding it for decided to buy.... Sorry I am laughing thinking about it... A 1993 33ft wellcraft. They are first time boaters and chose that boat because it's bigger. I tried to tell the
That if it's bigger they want they can get a better boat then a wellcraft, not saying wellcrafts are bad boats but they were known to have major stringer issues around that time. I suggested that regardless of which boat they choose they should always get a survey and they said: "do you really believe in those things?". Yikes! I hope it works out for them beaauae they are nice people but they should have done their homework.

You dropped that price pretty quick. I did some research you were in the ball park the first time. Great price now. It should sell.

I Did drop it quickly and alot and it's the lowest I will likely go but I am weeks away from having to pay for winter storage and my marina starts collecting for next summer In October so I figured it is one last shot to sell it prior to that. If it doesn't sell by next week I will likely go ahead and put it in storage for the winter because the weather is starting to get pretty cold now. It's a nice indoor unit so I could still show it if someone wanted to see it.

If it had a genset and AC...we would be very interested. In Texas...those are must have items. Best of luck with this sale though.

I completely understand, bit the money you save on the price could allow you to buy them and add them :)

Advertise like crazy to sell your boat. There are lots of deals out there right now. You can be in a nice cruiser (30-32) for the same amount of money you have in your SS. You may have to go older like I did but so far it is worth it.
