That is total BS

I think the VP manual actually states something that this is not an item that requires reguler checks or something...

How about VP you replace all of the Trim Pumps to the new model and then if something goes wrong and is out of warranty you require the buyer to pay for the fix. But it is a crappy unit to begin with so why fault the buyer???

Well my biggest problem is that volvo knows it's faulty and should give costumers a break or at least a percentage of the cost I work for a company that is allways redesignig our products and some times things don't work out as expected so we go right ahead and either replace it for free or prorate the item. This year I have spent more than enough money , had the motors compration checked due to water in oil ,solved that problem ,next sun pad openned broke hinges and shocks , now this .It's probably cheaper to rent a boat and not have to deal with this . so far for 20 hour on the water my price per hour is looking like $400.00 . :x

Just had my trim pump replaced after not being able to lift the drive after trailering. I had to ratchet strap it up as well. The new pump that four winns installed is a little different in that the white plug that was leaking is no longer there and two of the hydraulic lines have been moved to the sides of the distribution block instead of all four coming in the top. The lady on the phone told me that this seems to be the year for trim pumps as she already knew exactly what was the problem and had been replacing them all summer. The cost was around 900.00 dollars (thank goodness for extended warranty), cost me 25.00.

I just looked it up, it is new. So new I havent even seen a bulletin on it yet, I just looked up pricing, $800 and as of right now they are on backorder already with no estimated in date. Judging by the look of the pump it looks like it will fix the leaking problems....hopefully!

Great news! Thanks for checking this out. Got a P/N so those of us with this issue can verify we're getting the updated pump?

none of the parts of the original trim part are available anymore, they issued a bulletin today on this for dealers.

21573834 is the whole pump and now they offer just the cover too for the new pump in case of issues, part 21573835

Can the new cover be ordered for the old pump for those of us that don't have issues yet as a form of preventative maintenance?

the trim hoses are all different too, not sure if the pump itself is exactly the same and would match up to the new cover or not as i have not yet seen one.

That's good news Brian! Sounds like Volvo is pretty far along in the process. I'm sure mine will go at some point, so save one of those new pumps for me :D

An update on our trim pump issue -

Spoke to VP who is going to provide the NEW trim pump housing while we cover the remaining costs. The lady I spoke to stated the new part runs around 850 and is redesigned from the 07, our model, that is on the lower right side of the stern drive.

I guess the best case would be everything covered but I am happy with what VP did being out of warrantry for a full year.

How did you end up having them pick up part of the cost ,because When I spoke to them it was made out that I had to pay for it all . I'm waiting for a new pump my self it's in back order . mean while I was able to fix my old one instesd of those little white plugs I installed small set screws in and worked on the pump itself cleaned everything and filled it up again . I will find out this weekend . Will post my Findings , in texas we still have at laest three more weeks of good boating to do.
