Well, in my "casual surfing", I came across a listing for a 1999 298 Vista, with some KEY features we need in Texas (AC/Heat, Generator etc...).

The boat is a trade in at a local marina and should arrive soon for me to actually sea trial and check out if all goes well. Based on what I have been told, its a REAL nice boat and the previous owner is very meticulous about its care/maintenance. So...crossing my fingers on this one. I have been down this road before...

I have looked at other brands (Chris Craft, Monterey always topped the list), but one thing that keeps drawing me back to Four Winns is the HUGE swim platforms.

Good luck with the 298.

The large swim platforms are nice. That is one item my wife really wanted while searching for our next boat and we enjoy it on our 328. It also is a plus that our swim platform is a good height off the water. On our previous two boats the swim platforms were smaller and close to the water. I didn't like the way the platforms slapped into the water in small waves or boat wakes. You may comfortably sit two lawn chairs up on the swim platform on the 328 and still walk around them to gain access back into or out of the boat.

I assume the 298 platform to be the same size?

Mike.

Its a small world. If that is the boat listed at Lake Ray Roberts Marina then that is my boat. I'd be glad to tell you anything and everything about it.

They don't have it yet because we are working through the last two issues on the boat I'm buying from them. We are hopeful to finish them this week and close the deal. Then the transport would occur next week.

We've been very happy with our 298. We are insisting that this new boat work as well as our current boat. Which is why they are working hard on her today!

Nice boat! Hope it works out for you. What is the current owner upgrading to?

Hope to upgrade to a 2002 Regal 3260. We have two final issues being worked out so we can pass the final sea trial. The port engine began dropping RPM's intermittently and there was way too much water being pumped out of the bilge. These issues have hopefully been fixed (I'm sure the leak issue was). The engine I've not heard yet. The first fix did not do the job, so Mercury marine gave them some other items. It only drops RPM's above 4,200 RPM.

We've loved our Seas the Day and will miss her, but the size and layout of this boat thrills me AND the admiral!

SoonerBoater,

It is a small world, as I have been following your thread over on Boatered.com on your issues with the Regal 3260.

Hope everything comes together for you so you may move forward with your deal.

Mike.

I hope this one works out for you. But be warned it is much harder on the pocket book! I went through $300 dollars fuel in about 4-5 hours of running time on our new (to us) boat. I fortunately do not pay a slip fee but my haul out will be $300 and I store in my yard at home. If it wasn't for the savings of the slip fees and storage I wouldn't have even considered this boat. BUT>>>> It is a pretty sweet life having all the amenities of home at your finger tips.

Good Luck and keep us posted. Sounds like the Regal still needs some repairs so it will be a while before you'll actually see her.

Yeah, we are really hoping this is the boat for us. We wont know for another couple of weeks most likely though.

I know we are in for a shock when it comes to fuel and such. I will have to pay slip fees of course. We will keep this boat (or whatever we end up with) on Lake Lewisville which is only about 30K acres of water...not real big. Fuel consumption probably wont be as bad for me since there isnt a whole bunch of lake to check out, especially since we already know all of it. We typically head out and relax on the hook while listening to music etc....not as much run time as many of you guys have.

Well, I went and looked at the boat on Wednesday and I am taking my wife out to see it this Sunday. We will see if it all works out for us soon.
