For those of you who live in the North Texas, here was the release that the Texas Park and Wildlife put out regarding zebra mussels making their way from Lake Texoma to a creek that empties into Lake Lavon. For those who aren't familiar, Lake Lavon is the water supply to most of the cities north of Dallas.

Welcome to the club. They will cling to every submerged metallic part of your boat. We have had them for 10 years up here . They do clean up the water, and are not really much of a problem with the operation of the boat. We just brush them off several times during the season, then blast them off with a power washer before the boat goes into storage.

Just don't use your bare hands to clean them off.

Yeah, I've been waiting. They have been a problem here since last summer, but mainly an hour north at Lake Texoma. I just thought it was interesting how they plan to use potassium chloride stop them leaving the creek and entering a new lake.
