Hey Lou, thanks for the suggestions, I'm going to look into all of those possibilities.

One thing that confuses me, however, is that this stalling, and bogging down on throttle up, doesn't happen when I have the boat out of the water and am using the muffs. The obvious question is, does the engine behave differently if/when the drive is not engaged?

Does that make any sense?

The load on the engine from pulling the boat makes all the difference....when I was having trouble with mine, it would start and idle fine and would rev up to 3000 rpms fine in neutral on the water but would not plane out the boat...it would accelerate to about 1500 rpms and then fall on its face......the anti siphon valve and carb rebuild fixed it...
