Well after a full week of the our new boat still at the dealer, we have not made any progress at all, NOT ONE BIT. Unless you count "we think its the catalytic converter system causing some issues" as head way.

What would you guys do In my case? We usually can boat well into October as we did last year, but we will be screwed on that is seems. What would you be asking for to make this entire mess right, besides the obvious fix?

Warranty work always took forever. Unfortunately, this is par for the course. I just hope it is not a lemon.

My 17 year old 180 Freedom has a 3.0 Mercruiser and it starts and runs like new. Bugs will happen, but the acid test is in the long term.

maybe ask them to throw in an extended warrantee?
I like modern technology but do not completely trust it...that's why I still have my 22 year old FW with the 4.3 Cobra...nothing fancy...but always starts and runs....
Same thing with my Jeeps...when I bought the 07 Jeep Hemi I kept the ancient 98 Jeep 4.0 six because they run and run....

Oh and BTW last year when the CAT motors were coming out I said there would be issues because those CATS have to get very hot to work and that's something you have to be very careful with in an inboard fiberglass boat. They must have extra cooling system safeguards built in to prevent dangerously high temps in the engine compartment. Besides the CAT itself the cooling system in a raw water cooled inboard is pretty simple.....

I'd keep shopping and let them know you are, or tell them you want a different boat. Don't fall in love till the numbers are right and in your case till it runs!

Back out of the deal. Buy a used 2008 for Upper 20's to low 30's and add all the accessories you want. Let them deal with getting it fixed and sell it to someone else. The bugs would pretty much be gone on a used boat, and you can just enjoy the boat, and not worry.

Yeah, I bought a used jet ski and the damned thing blew up on me the first weekend we had it. Don't need that with a $30,000 boat.

I think you already got that. For the 10 to 20K savings on a 2 year old boat you can have ALOT of people look at it to make sure it's not going to blow up or over heat.

What can Spicer's due for you with this 2008 they have ?????

Not the big motor, or all the options you have/had, but I bet it runs.

Come on Tx... Just admit that the saleswoman was hot and she seduced you into buying it...Or atleast keep repeating that story until you and everyone else believes it.

I agree 100% back out and get an older boat. The catalytic converters are going to be a pain in the butt. You'll have more money for gas and upgrades. When you buy used you can protect yourself by paying for a good thorough third party inspection.

:!: :!: If I were you I would talk a deal with 'aguyindallas' for his SS and go on a road trip to pick it up. His boat has been upgraded (Stereo, LED lights) well maintained and has low running hours. All you would need to do is bring it home and use it.

No I got caught up at the boat show, I think the smell of new fiberglass is like LSD and makes your mind do crazy things, plus I just shelled out 5k on a fix on my old boat, so new at the time looked good. It didnt take long for that new smell feeling to wear off and I kicked myself in the butt for taking a screwing.

Boat shows can be as bad or worse than a dealers showroom. Easy to get caught up in the moment.

Maybe worth taking a look at this SS in Traverse. Not red, Not a 210SS, but worth a look before you committ.

2008 H220 SS
