I need to remove the flame arrester for cleaning. Its on a 1999 Volvo 7.4 EFI. As you can see in the pictures there isn't enough clearance between it and the exhaust manifold. Has anyone else run into this.

The shop manual says "remove clean and replace", but doesn't tell how to remove it. Sorry for re-posting this, I thought I had a solution but it didn't turn out and this time I included pictures.

What's up with digging up 20+ posts from the past and adding a comment ? Adding to your post count , or just extremely interesting old posts to you ?

A bit of a severe admonishment; nobody seems to have responded to the original post ( me included). As to the problem, I'd probably try removing the 2 riser bolts and the box containing the breakers.
