Good luck with the deal! We love our 298V. And yeah, my wife and I frequently bring out the lawn chairs on the swim platform and watch the kids swim and snorkel. The 298 has a bunch of other great features too. She is a "very roomy" 28 footer. :D

The admiral and I took the boat out for a drive today. This was our first time on a cruiser, and our first time to drive a boat of this size. I expected it to be "different" than what I was used to, but it was even more than I expected. I guess it felt like going from a Cessna 172 to a 747 (not in speed, but in terms of brute size/weight/handling). Overall, we are very happy with the boat and are looking to try to work things out on it and hopefully make it ours. We spent about 2 hours on the boat today checking things out, driving, and just getting a general feel of the boat.

More details to come....hopefully soon! The admiral is on board, which is key. She is already talking about the fun and things to do with/on the boat.

Great! Sounds like the wheels are in motion. You will love having a cruiser. Any leads on getting your SS sold?

I have had a few people inquire and say They are interested, but all of them have current boats they need to sell first.

Survey was done today and I should have the official report tomorrow. Overall, nothing major (verbally) is wrong with the boat, although there are a couple things that will need to be worked out prior to me closing on her.....were getting closer!

If you don't mind me asking, I was wondering what kind of price you've negotiated with the 298? I spoke with Jeff at Lake Ray Roberts via email at the beginning of the month and the price was 39,900. Now I see the same 298 on Yacht World priced at 49,900. Hopefully you're at the lower number! :)

Getting closer - survey was done and what I would say...nothing major needs to be done. There are a few mid level concerns that I will ask them to address, but other than that...not too bad.

Sounds like you may be getting an early Christmas present. Just think you may still have a couple weeks after taking possesion of your 298 to make further Christmas gift requests of your admiral for your new boat. :)

Mike.

Good work Steve! You won't regret the move. Are you dealing with the previous owner (poster here) or a dealership? What about your old boat will they take it on trade? what kind of items were you able to find? Sounds like the previous owner was pretty diligent.

I'm sure your whole family will be very pleased with the new acquisition.

Marc, we are buying the boat through a Marina via their designated broker. So far, the broker has been very easy to work with and they have agreed to fix the things I was most concerned with....the sump pump is inop and the water pressure is very low. Other than that its mostly very minor. I am selling my boat myself, rather than trading it in...spread the word!

I have been in contact with the previous owner of the boat about a million times by email. He too has been very helpful.

We should have the loan closed on Friday as that's the soonest my wife can get to the bank to sign her part.
