We are in the middle of some of the earliest bad weather for decades here in the UK. Tonight -9c = 16f in my marina....Ouch!

And the country grinds to a halt 'yet again'

That is cold for England. Given your mild winters, do you all even winterize over there? I bet that caught a lot of boaters unprepared (or maybe not).

No not like you guys do. I have an engine compartment heater controlled by this gizmo that my son knocked up for me.

We have two rivers that flow through the marina twice a day and that normally keeps the water temperature above freezing, I do get worried in case someone unplugs the shore power if it gets really cold. I have found a piece of kit available that will send a text message to my mobile phone should the shore power be disconnected and can also send a text message showing the status of the heater, I can also send a text to it, to switch the heater on and off manually, they cost around couple of hundred pounds, but sounds like it would give piece of mind.

Wow that would be cold even for here at this time of year...we do get cold enough to freeze the salt/brackish water in the harbor behind our house, and our boat's usually winterized by the end of October...
As far as winter weather I love my Jeeps and my Toro single stage snowblower....

our boat was put away a few months ago. This weekend was spend down in Moab with the Jeep crawling some red rock. Today have the snow blower out (Honda) blowing 6-8" of fresh snow.

You need to emigrate to Oz BtB.. :D

Never freezes, 8 month boating season as a minimum, no GFC... what more do you need!

WHAT! You don't have any GFC either?... What's GFC?

Good luck in the test!
