I'm starting to get real interested in the stereo/speaker setup Dallas puts in his 298!

I have a basic plan in my head. I'm going to have to wait until Nauti Luv sells before I get serious on the new stereo.

I'm thinking 4 Polk's in the arch, 2x JL 10w3 subs, a pair of Polk in the cabin and some rear facing speakers on the arch to have good sound while floating in the water.

Keep in mind that when your camper canvas is in the boot, it will sit just under ther arch. I was going to put rear facing speakers on the arch, but ran into that problem. The bigger problem is when you have the camper open as it is now. There isn't any room for speakers between arch and and canvas. I was toying with the idea of having rear facing speakers on the top of arch, but decided against because of looks and room.

Bummer about the canvas under the arch. Not well designed, at least for rear facing speakers.

I'm thinking about just having my canvas redesigned next fall for that reason. I have seen some bullet pod speakers attached to the helm under the windshield before also. Not sure if I like the look or not. Again, you can always put the speakers on top of the arch.

What are your plans when you get your 298? Are you going to drop her in the water, or store it on land for your cooler winter months? I see Dallas has about 3 months were the overnight lows hang around freezing.

I'm guessing in Dallas some boats may winter right in the water?

Mike.

In our market, the vast majority of the boats stay in the water all year long, and most of the crusiers just have bilge heaters in them. In addition to that, many boaters still use their cruisers in the winter (we plan too).

When we had our runabout, we would do the full winterization and then keep the boat on the lift at marina. Wiith the cruiser, we just put antifreeze in the freshwater system and water heater, test the bilge heater, stabilizer in gas tank, and test bilge heater again. A lot of people don't do the antifreeze.

We usually don't stay below freezing long enough to do any damage, but last winter was the exception. We had a few consecutive days where the temp did not go above 32, and many people were surprised come spring time.

Congrats. Bet you can't wait to get her in the water, take a cruise and then spend the night on your boat instead of driving back home.

I've only got about 5 months left to wait until we get ours lifted back in.

Have fun,
Mike.

Congrats....I'm jealous. Was down in your neck of the woods last year. Do you boat on Lake Lewisville? Will be back down again in January for a week. Looked like a nice lake.
