We're simply looking for something slightly smaller than our H220... Sea Ray 200/220 Select
thinking about picking up one of these... price is a bit high right now IMO but may put in an offer on a couple (two different boats/two locations). Both are 2004... one has wake tower but both are virtually the same boats. A little curious about the Select 220... most have the 5.0 MPI as well that seems a little light for this boat.

So.......... how did the Sea Ray's look ?

Hey Cap'n,
I like the 200 Selects... the 220 Selects are a beast at over 4100+ lbs. I tried to work numbers a bit on a 04' 200 with the 5.0 MPI, Bravo III & tower but the owner is to high. It's at a marina and they were quick to say he's to high as well. There's a clean FW's 200 that I could pick up for a decent price but I'm sitting tight... I want to be sure we get the right boat. ;) There's a few variables still in the mix including the possibity of a bigger tow vehicle still... which would mean the allowance for the bigger boat.

2.) 04' Monterey 200 $15,750
3.) 03' Regal 2000 16K
4.) 04' Four Winns 200 16K

I think that option #6 is the best bet. If I hadn't purchased a new 2008 last summer, I would be making a bid on option #6.

Option #5 and #6 are out. Budget was $20K max, but now that he has found these 4 that are all under 18K, the
target price is now right at $15K. Nice try anyway.

Any bites on #5 from the Holland, Michigan Craigslist ?? You should put in Grand Rapids CL, it gets much
more exposure than Holland. But neither is very active in boat sales this time of year. Remember, we have
8 to 15" of snow on the ground right now. Not too many people considering buying a boat around here during
this part of the season. Spring listing is best up here. Worth a try though. Good Luck.

1.) 04' Crownline 202br 17K (will take $16,800 per email he sent me this morning)... 07' tandem, 2nd owner, GREEN (emerald - I like it but with other buyers hate this color?), 5.0MPI, SS prop (orig asking price $19,500)
2.) 04' Monterey 200 $15,750 (I believe $15,500 will buy it)... one owner, new tandem this fall, WHITE w/Monterey graphics, 5.0 GXI, extended swim platform (plus with my kids), some ski equip & jackets (orig asking price $18,500)
3.) 03' Regal 2000 16K... tandem trailer, 5.0 GXI, factory swim, NAVY/WHT, SS prop (orig asking price $21,000 -way over priced IMO)
4.) 04' Four Winns 200 16K ... single trailer, RED, 5.0 MPI, ext factory swim platform, SS Prop (orig asking price $17,900)

:)

Hey Cap'n,
Added info above... since we're posting here.
Crownline has the highest book value, but the Monterey seems to offer the most for the money. I'm leaning toward the Monterey just a bit at this point... it's a one owner, lower hours and is setup nicely for our next boat. I'm buying the boat for us but trying to buy it with others in mind for resale later one... :)

No worries. I will take it with me to Maryland in February when we move there. It will be fun to cruise the Potomac and parts of the Chesepeake in.

Good luck on your search.

Thanks J! Your boat offers a ton for the money... if we were closer I would have loved to try to get together with you.

All the best!

Thanks. When it does finally get sold someone is going to get a great boat. On the other hand I may just decide I like it to much to part with it once I get to Maryland.

Cap'n... a little update :)
Looks like if all goes well, my 14 yr old son and I will hit the road later this week to pick up the Monterey 200LS (if it checks out as expected). Priced decent, one owner, low hours, snap in carpeting, wanted a tandem trailer-it has an brand new one, 5.0gxi should be a good match and it's got the extended swim we were hoping for.
It's been an interesting search to say the least and took a little longer than expected. We found out on thanksgiving eve that my sis-in-law has leukemia at just age 42... then while halfway home on the 20 hour road trip we almost lost my Mom. Put the whole boat shopping thing in perspective. Life certainly can change on a hurry....
All the best!

Thanks for the update, glad you have narrowed it down to a couple of boats.
Hopefully the Monterey checks out to your satisfaction and you can get out
and enjoy it with your family this spring.

Let us (me) know how things go after you and your son make the trip to check out the boat.

...Here's the latest. :)
Planned a run to look at the Monterey about 3 weeks ago on a Thurs only to be snowed out again. It's the second trip planned only to be shut down by blizzard warnings (litereally). :( I'm not sure what we'll end up doing now that it's January. The boat can be tested inside his marina (northern Missouri) but an actual sea trial is probably out of the question even if we were both nutty enough to put it on the water. Pricing on the Monterey is at $15k which is a good price... last word on the 04' Horizon 200 was $16k... and the Regal even though it's nice, is probably out of the picture for the same money... the Crownie owner owes more than the $16,500 he'll sell it for. He's also literally moving out of country in Feb but isn't going to budge from his price. The Monty seems like the best boat for the money but there's no longer a big push to get a boat in my garage until spring (even though I hoped to be done & boating when spring hits). The Monty will still be there as will the others. If not, there will be another. 8)

Happy New Year!!

Steve
