Thanks for that info chaps, what I want to do is run the equipment, i.e. Air con, TV etc, on the boat when cruising. I have no shore power at the dry storage so only charge the batteries on the water. :shock:
Confused.com!

I use the factory fitted genset ( when out from the dock) that is still running at 115V 60 Hertz, works fine as it should.If you want to run 240 V you just need a set-up transformer.

My set up with the shore power (230 V 50 Hertz (cycle) all 115 V 60Hertz system run fine on the step-down, - Electric Hob, Microwave, A\C Battery Charger, Fridge, Water Heater, the only thing that did not work was the Ice Maker, it frooze but the stepper motor relied on the single from the 60 cycle so at 50 it did not work.

When running on the genset everthing is as if still in US 115 60 cycle.
