I thought this could possibly be a funny thread to start, it may give us all a chuckle and a slight break in the winter blues. For example, when I first got our boat home from the lake after the first use I washed her and payed her some do respect! :D As I was doing this I found myself very quietly saying "there ya go baby, isn't that better" as I was cleaning her off and buffing her with great pride. Or, I will walk by her in the garage and mutter "I know I know, you need another taste of the lake huh!" Maybe Im crazy (could be), but I wondered if anyone else would admit the same. I would love to here some of your funny stories on this. I caught my neighbor last summer cussing his boat out because it wouldn't start..... God Damn you, mother %^$#@!, thats it you piece of *+%$. I was laughing my arse off. It was a really old Bayliner....

Jim

Nope, we think you alone on this, and need some psychiatric help! ... oh, wait... that's what this forum is all about... my bad... carry on.

I did once inadvertently tell the GF "... the only thing that matters is getting the boat in the water!". Yup, didn't live that down for some time, and with spring coming, I am either going to be reminded, or slip and repeat.

Yeah I'm guilty of this too. There were quite a few occasions on our trip that I would pat her on the helm while cruising and thank her for taking care of us on the trip! Actually at one point I even promised her a full synthetic oil change as soon as we got back to home port if she delivered us safely. FWIW I delivered on that promise the weekend after we got home.

I can't say I have talked to inanimate objects before. It's probably not a big deal, unless that object(boat) starts talking back to you. Then you should seek therapy.

I seem to recall patting the helm coming back into Hammond following you and Firecadet last year and saying "good boat"

 Yeah it sure did get ugly fast that day! It was crazy to think just a couple hours before that hell ride we were swimming in glass flat water in the middle of Lake Michigan many miles from shore! It sure made for some good memories though!

Crazy !!!! if you don't talk to your boat in the middle of a 90 mile crossing from Fort Lauferdale to Bahamas or even around from West End to Freeport in a force 7-8 than you are the insane person, a boat is not an dead object she is a boat and the first time you treat her as an object---- remember your first divorce 10x worst!!!!

Let alone talk to the boat have a chat with Neptune as well,

Sean

LOL, funny topic. Before buying our 2007 220H's, my brother (blackmagicweekends) and I both were running old boats from the 1970's that gave us all kinds of trouble at the end of their respective lives.

My brother used to refer to what we were doing as "please baby boating" because every time you went to start the boat or to try to go somewhere in the boat you were saying, "Please baby...."

We also both cussed the hell out of those boats.

Guess its a good thing you weren't with us on our return trip to Hammond after having lunch with Ben at his marina. Miranda was even talking to the boat then!

I'm guilty too. I hope she never talks back to me or I might have to trade her in.
The little boy next door is 4 years old and he walked over an said to me if you keep washing that boat there will be nothing left of it.
I figured he must have been listening to his parents talking. It did make me stop for a second to take in the words from the little guy, I was actually speech less. Kids you've got love them.

P.S. a month had gone by and his father had got a new car and was doing the same thing so I said to him the same words, He didn't say much.
