I'm going to a Cruisers open house next Friday night in Oconto, sponsored by Skipper Bud's. Going to tour the plant and hoping to get some good pictures of the 48 Cantius. The more I see pictures of this boat the more I like it. I will make sure to get some good shots!

Thanks. I have seen alot of pictures and articles about it on the net. But have not heard a first hand impression yet.
I'm looking forward to your comments and pictures.
If I could ever afford a a $900K boat for Great Lakes use, that would be high on my list.

Saw it at the Chicago show. Very nice, wide sidedecks. Almost too wide, it ate up quite a bit of interior room. Enormous engine compartment! The cabin was well appointed and nicely laid out. With the size of the aft cabin we'd be tempted to make it the main cabin. The lack of a cabin entry door let a lot of light in but would take some getting used to.

Saw it at the Dallas boat show. The skylight and lack of cabin door is unique, but I don't think I would like it. Especially when I put the kids to bed, and I'm still doing some work in the salon or cockpit. Even having a few drinks at the marina will allow my led lights on my slip keep them up. I like to put my kids in the cabin at night, and make it pitch black so they will sleep.

These style boats are not really intended for families with small kids. More suited to a couple that cruises, and may bring along another couple.
With that in mind, the 48 Cantius would fit our boating lifestyle perfectly. But not everyone's.

Here is a great article about the 48 Cantius traveling down the Trent River into Georgian Bay, then across lakes Huron and Michigan before arriving at the Door Peninsula by Green Bay.

My wife and I had the pleasure of taking our boat through the Big Chute Marine Railway about 17 years ago. Quite the neat experience as you remain on your boat for the travel up and over the big hill before being dumped back in the water on the other side.

That was an enjoyable cruise for us from Port Severn all the way to Bob Caygeon. Wouldn't mind doing that trip again sometime......

From the looks of things each stateroom still has it's own door. It's just the down cabin area that is open to the upper deck area.

And I believe they intend the aft stateroom to be the main (aka owner's) stateroom. This is typical on larger boats. There's usually better headroom and it's quieter then one at the bow.

Saw the 48 Cantius at the Miami boat show. It made me think of the gradual evolution of an Express Cruiser into a Pilothouse. First, hard tops replaced bimini tops. Then, front windshields and side windows extended completely to the hard top. Now, a sliding glass door is added to the back of the cockpit creating a full glass enclosed cockpit. I never expected Cruisers to manufacturer a Pilothouse.

Also consider the trawler market has been making a 'fast trawler' version for a couple of years. Seems like a natural transition for the powerboat market to move in that direction too. Truth be told I'd rather have a more trawler-like setup than go with a sedan bridge or aft cabin style boat. I just don't really like the taller setup, neither visually or how they handle. Now, with a modern stabilization gyro it might be less of an issue, but those are still pretty pricey for smaller vessels.

Nice! I got lots of pics, spent about 15 minutes talking to the President of Cruisers. They got 5 orders at the Miami Boat show, and have sold 18 which I think is a year's production. I will get some pics up as soon as I can. They got the name Cantius from K.C. Stock's father. Stock is the owner of Cruisers. There is a 41 Cantius in production and a 45 Cantius is planned. I will leave my impressions when I post some pics.

A couple drove 4 hours from Houston to Dallas to sea trial this one. They want to keep this boat in Destin and cruise back and forth from Miami.

The dealer told me that Cruisers and going to have a second layout for this boat. Instead of the bench seat on the transom, they are going to have a semicircle seating that faces the glass doors, and with the hit of the switch the seating will rotate 180 degrees and the semicircle seating will face the water. I want to see that.
