I remember when you bought that boat and being impressed on how clean she was. Looks like a win-win for both of you.

She's beautiful....I'd sell, although speaking with my marina, boat sales are on the upswing!

If clean used boats are selling quick then why not hold out for a better price? There's always a buyer for the right product.

Clean used boats always sell quick, if they are priced right for their geographic location. This is not a "new" trend. It's been that way for decades. It's just that with social media, message boards and such, the average "Joe Six Pack" hears about sales more often than he use to.
Especially if that particular "Joe Six Pack" is himself looking to get a bigger boat.

If the boat is as good as claimed, then the advice to hold out for a better price is sound. If it's not, then sell it now. Remember the old saying, "Your boat is only worth what someone is willing to pay" . You might get more, you might get less than you are asking. The ball is
in your court, you decide.

All good advice Cap'n. I just think that the OP could do a little bit better if he holds out for a little longer but I have been wrong and if it "needs" to go then sell now! If the OP can afford to hold on to the boat then I would be tempted to wait... The purchase is probably contingent on a sea trial which can't happen for a while yet so what's the hurry?

Your right the OP has to make the final decision as to whether or not he is willing to sell now or hold out for the unknown. Once we get a little further into Spring there will also be more competition, that's also something else to consider.

What is NADA pricing her at? I thought that was a good price given she is a 99 with no gen. All I know is that every month you don't get rid of your boat, it is costing you something whether it be a loan payment, slip fees, maintenance, taxes and insurance, etc.. And then there is depreciation. I remember when I owned my Carver it was depreciating at $700 a month!!

I will likely take it, its a steal for him in my opinion but as mentioned above, a boat is only worth what someone will pay for it. I know I could get more for it in a few months when spring fever hits. Although I was looking at getting out of boating for a few years, Im now looking at a deckboat/runabout, or maybe a jet boat. Something small that I can trailer or something.

Well, to answer your question...no. He saw my posting above where I was still trying to give everyone on the board a chance and thought it wasnt right for me to do that so he chose another boat and bought it. I just called him to tell him we have the boat scheduled for the normal annual engine oil change, outdrive service, wash, wax, etc, and wanted to schedule his surveyor to come through and he said he bought a boat last week. He is upset about my post. I am not bashing the guy (Im sure he will see my post on here and think I am) but I was clear that I was accepting his offer and would give him first right to refusal if another deal came in before the launch. He knew it was still on the market. So its back on the market.

Maybe some good industry news about used boat sales compared to last year.
From Spader Business Management, who tracks North American boat dealers, both large and small, to compile an average profile, then compares year-over-year trends in a number of different categories.

Used Boats January 2011 vs January 2010
Quote:
Higher used boat sales ($100,752 vs. $73,119, up 37.8 percent)contributed to the overall increase in total dealership sales of 16.2 percent over last year.

Granted, these are dealer numbers, not private sellers. But the trend for clean used boats to be in demand is there.

Check at Boat Masters in Akron. Not that far from you. Look at their web site and see what they have been selling used boats for. They have been selling like hotcakes. I think they will broker a boat for 3% not sure though.
