I had the same 6.5" Clarions with external tweeters. CM1632 if I remember correctly. I'd already replaced one and another was on the way out when Amazon's price on db651's dropped to $30/pair or something ridiculous like that. I opted to swap them all out and left the tweeters in place just to cover the holes for now. I still don't know what I'll do about those, but I'm still happy with the choice because they sound SO much better and and I'm not very concerned about them failing in the middle of a vacation, etc. Since I painted the grilles white, the tweeters don't look much out of place to anyone but me.

You can get spacers at several places, some might require a little white paint. (It's not too difficult )

Yeah, now that they sell spray paint geared for plastics it's less hassle than before. Still, ones already made out of white plastic would be nice. Once less thing to do, and one less thing to break down in the sun. I also wonder if anyone makes ones that are beveled. Better to have a smooth transition out from the edge instead of straight.

If I remove the tweeters then I'll probably replace them with some lights. A bit more light would be nice, especially if I got some with a tighter beam pattern than the current ones. But that's a different project and I've got enough on my To Do list already.

Good price on the Infinity 612M speakers that I installed in our boat last year. I still say they are just a touch better in overall sound clarity to the Polk's, and they handle more power. $73.22 per pair at Amazon.

If anybody wants a set of the 612's let me know. I picked up a pair last year but decided against using them. The holes were different and I didn't feel like getting into drilling new ones (opted for a new set of clarions all-around instead). I never hooked these up. That and I dragged my feet long enough to not be able to return them to Amazon. Anyway, $70 and shipping sound reasonable?
