I'm looking at renting a slip to use for the summer and all the covered ones with lifts on the lake that is closest to me are at people's homes and not for rent, the only ones for rent are open (photo attached) and it'll cost $3 per linear foot ($72). Question is...can I leave it in the water and just take the battery with me to charge it? or does the boat need to be pulled out so that the engine isn't taking water and eventually sink my boat? Storage area is in the rear aspect of the pic.

I used to alternate my batteries. Left one for the bilge pump while I charged the other. A guy in the slip next to me used a car battery for his bilge pump and pulled both his marine batteries. Nothing worse than hitting the key after drifting and hearing that deafening silence!

Do you have two batteries with a Perko switch? Can alternate, but the automatic bilge pump needs power. That being said, you might want to test the bilge bump and the auto float. Beginning of last season my auto float was malfunctioning. Forgot what it was, but an easy fix. And if broken, easy to replace.

A boat in the water does get some wear and tear. You will have a very noticeable water line and Mike is right, the sun does a number if you have no cover.
