Hey all, I'm the new owner of a 2001 230 Horizon, I just added 12x12 edge mounted Lenco trim tabs, I'll post pictures later, haven't had a chance to try them out because of the weather here but hopefully can go out this weekend. The installation was straightforward, no big problems though drilling into the hull was a little unnerving. I was sick of the porpoising which occured with trying to trim out the boat, I'll let you guys know how things go but I'm expecting good things from several other guys who've posted on here. Called the dealer about installing trim tabs and they had no clue how to do it on these boats, even though I have a trim tab switch on the console. Again, these were pretty straightforward, looked at the Bennett's but this is a lake boat, the installation seemed alot simpler for the Lenco's. Comments?

I payed 18,000 for the boat in Tennessee, came with a trailer, U shaped seating, 93 hours, pump out head, Volvo Duoprop, 5.7 Gsi, good deal? Will post pics later. Anyone know anything else about this model boat...any wood in the floor? I didn't see any. Thanks.

You will find that real adjustable trim tabs are a good addition -- Lenco or Bennett. I assume you are porposing when you are trying to get more bow up attitude. You are going to find that the Four Winns hull design, with it's extended running surface "stable V" hull, just will not take much bow up trim before it starts to porpose. In a conventional hull you can trim the drive out and get more bow lift, decrease the wetted surface area, and achieve a higher speed. In a Four Winns extended surface hull it just doesn't work. When you trim the bow out much you get into porposing early as the extended hull area contacts the water. Your only option is to trim the drive in. Trim tabs only trim the bow down, they do not help trim the bow up.

Good luck

Installed Bennett trim tabs on my 2007 Four Winns H190. Wow.. Want a difference in performance. The seller dealer, after seeing my tabs, now offers an option to install tabs on the H190.

I've thought about buying smart tabs for my h180... the price is right and reviews seem good
