Anybody with a factory installed Sony 10 Disc changer know how to remove it? I have a 298 and it's mounted in the cabin right next to the head unit. I was looking at it yesterday and it looks like all of the mounting screws are set back in a way that makes them nearly impossible to access. My plan was to remove the CD changer and replace it with a glovebox or small storage compartment for our paperwork and some other small items. I'm hoping there's a quick release or something that I'm just missing otherwise I guess I'll be stuck with a relic of the past since I have no plans to tear apart the cabinet to remove it.

Have you tried Sony's web site?? You could download the manual on it. That should give you an idea of how it was installed.

Good call on the website and on-line manual. Unfortunately, after checking out the mounting diagram, thing are not looking very promising. Looks like the CD changer is mounted before the front face of the cabinet goes up. I think I can get to the front screws but the back ones will be the problem. Nothing's ever easy, is it?

I also have a 2001 298 Vista. I put thousands of dollars in upgrading the entertainment, including TracVision. The guys that did my install were great, however, they too were stumped when it came to removing the Sony 10 disc player. The final verdict....we left it in its place.
