I have a Vista 268 with a Volvo Penta 5.7GiE engine. I need a new battery and a neighbor can get me a new Naitilus Combination Marine Starting and Deep Cycle NC37 for $66.17. Any recommendations on this or any other battery in the $100 price range? Should I really spend more?

Most boaters at this site say for the cost, it's not worth it!! At $200 each for me, it is. Comes with "•4-Year Free Replacement; 100-Month Prorated Limited Warranty" For it's size, it puts out more in starting, lasts longer in powering the "house". I have pushed them in overnight stays, more & more with out killing them!! I even leave them in the boat all winter, with out a charge and the engine starts right up. There made to take temps to -50.

Hard to beat Batteries Plus on marine batteries right now. $10-$15 rebate per battery thought the end of May.

I just bought 3. 2 - Type 27 Deep Cycles and 1 - Type 24 High Yield Starting. Spent $200.00.

Not to pick on Craig.

But the tech in me had to know!! I called Batterers Plus in Marlboro, Mass. The warranty is 12 months replacement & 24 month prorated. What I did not understand, I called there 800# & they did not know. They told me to call there store. I am thinking that the warranty may change from state to state.

I have a pair of Deka gp 27 dual purpose marine batteries, they hold a charge very well and crank over the engine great. I charge em when I put the boat away in Oct, then maybe a couple of times over the winter, and in April it starts right up.

You're not picking on me. To each his own on batteries.

I replace batteries every two years, regardless. Last thing I want is to be anchored off and lose the house batteries or worse, the starting battery. The BP batteries last at least 2 years, in my experience.

I have no loyalty to them, they simply have the best deal going around here (DFW). Two years from now, I will look at the best deal going again. If it's BP, sobeit.

Perfect. Buy that one. It will work just fine. Don't over analyze the battery buying experience. Get the biggest you can afford and enjoy your boat. In 2-3 years you will want to replace it anyway.

Yes! A good way to do it. To each there own. Don't mind me, I have 3 batterers, for me no more pulling them out in the fall. I have a 2000 watt inverter, I run the microwave for a few minutes off of 2 of them. On over overnight trips, I don't worry any more. I just bought a new boat and told the dealer, "I am taking the battiers and to put the ones in the new boat in my old boat. Since they were only 2 yrs. old.
