| Interesting and thanks for the follow up. I would not have thought the bearing carrier actually touched the pivot housing but I guess in the Volvo design it does enough that corrosion can form. I'd coat that whole area with OMC/Bombardier triple guard grease, it's the best waterproof grease I have seen, I use it on the prop shaft, anode bolts, etc and I have never had a problem getting things apart. Like I said above, the Cobra design used a gasket, that you coat on both sides with OMC Gasket Sealer (Permatex Aviation Sealer) and I have never had any corrosion in that area, nor have I ever had any trouble getting the drive off after sitting on a mooring in salt water all season (May to Oct). _________________
