Galley sink drain

Does anyone happen to know the size of the hose coming out of the galley sink drain? I want to reroute mine to the sump instead of using the grey water tank and I'm not sure of the size. I would like to buy the hose and a plug so that I can do it over the weekend. I'll save the thru hull installation for another day.

I would think it is 3/4. BUT I am not sure and don't want to mislead you

If it was me, I would cut a small piece off to match it up. But if your going though that much work, it would be easyer to dill one hill, bolt on the fitting, cut the hose and clamp it to the new thur hull fitting.

Yeah me too but the boat is an hour away and I'm trying to do it the easy way and take a new hose with me over the weekend. No big deal just trying for a shortcut to make the admiral happier. The only thing going into the grey water tank now is the sink but it sure seems to fill up fast.

What's causing the tank to get filled? Someone using the sink like it's one at home? Do not just keep the tap running, that wastes a whole helluva lot of water and fills the tank much too quickly.

Here's a tip, get one of the foaming dispenser kind of dish soap. Rinse the dishes first; we use the cockpit sink for this. Then foam them up with the soap. I use a foam bottle sponge for the purpose (looks sorta like a big flower). Once everything is soaped up then fill the sink about half-way to give them a first rinse. Drain that and then quickly rinse everything the final time. This will GREATLY cut down on the amount of water consumed.

And when you empty the foaming soap dispenser don't chuck it, refill it with about an ounce of regular dish soap and the rest with water. It's a helluva scam they perpetrate with those things. You're paying for convenience, certainly not for actual soap. I've refilled ours at least a dozen times and the pump still works great.

Actually Bill the Admiral is pretty darn conservative. She seems to use very little water but by the end of the weekend we do have a lot in our tank. I'll show her your tips on the foaming dispenser.

Do all boats in your area have grey water? Ours drains directly overboard, straight shot.

I can take a pic of the inside under the sink, and outside to show where the thru hull sits if you need. Shouldn't take more than 10 minutes to put it in...once you get over the fear of drilling in your boat!

All the boats on our lake drain overboard. Our boat came with the grey water system which I learned to dislike early on. The sink is the only thing left going into the grey water. Yes it would take me a bit to get over the fear of drilling through the hull.

I like drilling a pilot hole first from the inside. than drill the bigger hole from outside. Use a though hull that has a shot in the fitting were the hose slides on. This will help you to hold it as you turn the nut. Were are you, I will drill the hole for you!!

I would consider just adding a thru hull and draining the sink over board. Then you don't have to worry about clogging the sump with food & other junk.

I have all the parts to do mine, just have not had the time.

From the FW site, it looks like the galley uses 1" hose.

Wouldn't it already be routed to the sump pump first, and then pump sends it to the grey water tank. That is how mine is set up.

Eventually, I'm going to drill a hole and drain overboard.

I just drilled 2 holes in my boat. One in the side and the other in the bottom. After you get over the fear of putting the hole in your boat on purpose, it's a piece of cake!
