I have a '97 Horizon 180 that I have two seperate electrical issues I am stumped on. The first is that the tach isn't reading at all. Last year it did not work at all but while winterizing the boat we found the wire had simply gotten detached and after reattaching it to its proper location it worked while we were finishing winterizing the boat. This spring the tach does not work at all and the wire is still attached where we left it in the fall.

The other new issue I am having this spring is with the gas gauge. It is only reading at 1/2 of a tank no matter if the tank is full or near empty. Again, it worked last year before we put the boat away for the winter.

The oil gage, volt gage, temp, depth gage and spedo all work on the instrument cluster.....just not those two gages. Anyone got any suggestions of where to start?

I have not had this problem myself, but from past posting it has been a bad ground.

I have a 2005 P180, and doing really good. Over the past couple of weeks, the battery seemed to have conked off. So when I found it a pain to kick start and survive without a horn, I promptly replaced the stock battery with AMCO Yuasa one last week.

Initially it ran pretty well. But now the same problems seem to have resurfaced

1: No electric start
2: Horn doesnt work most of the times
3: Headlight is bright, but indicators are dim
4: Tachometer acts very weird - During riding, the needle is way past 12k rpm levels

Does your boat have the VDO gauge cluster?.....if so, do a search on the issues surrounding them.

Make sure when you reconnected the battery this spring you didn't miss any wires. Also make sure all wires a making good contact.
