I've been pondering over the idea of where exactly to install one. It's kind of a joke how there isn't one from the factory honestly.

I've considered on the inside of the driver's area by the fuse box sticking out. My issue with that is... if you have something plugged in, you might hit it walking to the bow. Any other ideas? I want to keep it close to the helm. I really can't think of any.

Was going to use this.. Looks classy and not cheap

I installed one directly under the fuse panel under the helm. It is "central" to everything in the boat for inflators, or the blender. I also put my 400W inverter in the same location. Haven't had any issues yet with anything being in the way.

I guess it depends on what you are looking to power with it. I have several installed for different purposes. I have one in the dash that splits to two to power the gps and spotlight. I have another under the storage shelf next to the passenger to power my refrigerator. I have one in the cabin to power the cell phone charger if not running on shore power. What are your needs for the outlet?

Ric - I just bought the all black flush mount 12v from West Marine instead of the one you showed. Had both in my hand but wanted the black not stainless.

I was trying to figure out where to mount it. Easier in helm and power to the fuse box, but not sure where to mount it. I debated the glove box (i think you only have the cooler on the port side). I was also looking at somewhere near one of the rear seats as my primary function was refilling the tube with air. That would wire at the battery.

If any one added a 12v on a horizon, post some pictures for ideas.

The helm might be good for me, the main function of the 12v outlet is to recharge cell phones that stream online music for the radio

I replaced the old Sony head unit with a newer one that has the USB connector for iPod/iPhone charge and music. Helm I think is best for dry if charging electronics.

I just need to sit in the boat and look around for a spot.

After reading this thread, I may add one (or a set) next to the stern seat (stbd side) to be more accessible for inflators. Sounds like a "Walt's Mod's 2012" project ot me!

I was wondering when another installment of "Walt's Mod's" was coming. I check it now and then to see what new gadgets and ideas you come up with.

I put two in the cuddy cabin. One to run the 12v thermo electric frig full time and the other to recharge cell phones where they are protected from spray. The two 12v outlets at the helm seem unnecessary, although I did run a dedicated 12v cable to run the handheld GPS.
