Thanks Robbo. I just knew I had read something on the VDO gauges.

Here is what mine looks like with the Bimini up to give you an idea. I have seen some different variations. Mine does not cover the bow at all, but the Admiral likes it that way so she can work on her tan

I got the bimini top during lunch, it's in perfect condition they stored it inside. She thanked me again for taking the boat off her property, she's so happy it's gone. She's a 27yo (super hot) chick that runs a horse riding school. The $1600 was just to pay for a new saddle or something, she honestly would have given it away for free if you knew her personally. She wanted nothing to do with it. She gave me all the paperwork, titles, owners manuals, repair manuals, like 5 sets of keys, etc. All the maintenance records since she bought it in 2005. They rebuilt the motor a few years ago cause it was "making a hissing noise" around the exhaust (gasket leak) and they just went ahead and rebuilt the engine and head. She also has the paperwork she had someone every 6-8 months detail the whole boat and keep up on it's maintenance while it was stored (why it cleaned like new with just soap/water and engine bay looks new). So since the engine was rebuilt, we're talking about it *may* have 20 hours on it (and that's a stretch).

Picked up a $10 drain plug at ripoff marine. I should have just gone to ace hardware and got one for $1 if I knew it was just a pipe plug.

PS, I love that window tint on the windshield. I'm stealing that idea.

After a long day of work.....

Boat needs:
Impeller
Oil Changes
Thermostat
bilge Pump (an automatic one since I'll be in a wet slip 24x7)
speedo sensor (was missing)
and the tilt/trim gauge just reads pegged

Other then that, 100% operational. Not too shabby. God dang is that bilge pump nearly impossible to get at, glad I have long arms. Engine purrs like a kitten other then you can't have it on for longer then 10 minutes due to it slowly creeping hot cause bad impeller lol. Did more buffing with some 3M marine cleaner/wax. Works 10x better and faster then car products. 30 seconds with the 3M did what fine cut/polish did in 30 minutes with the high speed.

Hope it's just the impeller..........or T-stat. Usually the hose-pressure will over-come a bad impeller.... :?:

No clue.

What's the procedure for running off a motor muff? Maybe bad temp sensor? I know in some cars that if you don't run a thermostat (like what I had to do) the water actually flows too fast to cool the car and it will overheat.

It's weird though, the hose that runs to where the car water pump would be.... is always hot, never gets water cold as you would think with circulating water.

FWIW,
We had the two front cup holders missing on our Horizon when we bought it, Academy has them for less than $3 in both white and black. They also have replacement grab handles in the exact same tan color for less than $7 (they just don't say Four Winns on them).

Great deal on your boat, we just spent $6400 on a 1999 Horizon 180 with a Johnson 130 OB. Boat was in same condition as yours (very clean) just had a s few engine issues. You should be able to turn this around in a few years and make a ton off it.

West Marine had some in stock, but for now I just moved some rear ones to the front. My buddy does LED work, so we'll modify some with some 5050 SMD's to make an adult beverage glow.

Going back out on it in a little, so far so good. My initial plan was to sell it, but no way.. this is an awesome boat!

My bilge bump is mounted directly under the engine. You can take the engine cover off easily. 2 pieces. I have butterfly nuts on the top part (that has the cushion on it) and that is mounted to a "L" shaped floor piece that has 4 long Philips head screws. Once off, you have total access to the front of the engine and the bilge bump.

The impeller is a snap to install. 4 screws and two hoses with clamps. You might run it and make sure there is no dripping from the bottom of the raw water pump. If there is, then you might as well replace it as the process is just 3 more bolts. The pump comes with the impeller in it, but is about $300. Impellers are cheap though if the pump is not leaking.

If you figure out the Trim sensor, let me know. Mine is pegged too. I know where it is by sound. There is something on the stern drive, and I took mine apart, but just could not figure out it. I need to revisit that as it drives me nuts that my trim gauge is not reading.

The only thing that seems to be leaking is power steering. I hope it's a loose/old hose. The gauge not working is really driving me nuts too, i'll research into it soon.

I already unbolted the old bilge, it was a 500gph attwood manual on pump.

I'm going to replace it with this:

I went with a larger capacity bilge pump. My stock was the 500, but I upgraded to the max my output hose size fit which was the 800 i believe. If you go up to the next size, you have to change the hose. Mine did not have a float so I added one as well. P.S. I have since cleaned the bilge. Gosh it looks nasty, but the pic is a few years old.

Float from West Marine. They actually had a deal with the float and bilge in one package at the time, but I do not see it on their website.

WOW! You got a great deal bud... Maybe even a bit better then mine.

I love West Marine because THEY DO INTERNET PRICE MATCHING. That's right... Pick out whatever you want on their site, find the cheapest place on the net with Google products that lists it in stock, print out the page and take it into the store. I have save many hundreds of dollars this way. They don't even calculate shipping or anything, just gotta tack on your local sales tax.

The best thing about it is you now have a brick and mortar store front to return your stuff do if you don't need it after all or it does not fit. Very convenient, and the stores never give me a hard time.
