Ben,
Aside from video of the offender and substantiated damage caused by them, there is nothing you can do. The term no wake, although seemingly straight forward, is almost too ambiguous to enforce. The talk of vigilantly justice is fun, but not realistic.
Remember, never get in the mud and wrestle with a pig, you just get dirty, and the pig likes it. Put on a few more fenders, and try to look the other way. Don’t let their inconsiderate actions deprive you of your good time. Dan

Maybe the laws are different here Ben, as to "too ambiguous to enforce". Because they do enforce it in the Boston area. It also means here, 5 MPH limit. The Harbor Master, State Police & Environmental Police, other than the USCG enforce it. I just think as boaters, you need to band together and go to your local authorizes and talk the problem over. It is not up to the marina or yacht club to inforce, at lest up here.

Anything's possible, but life's too short to live it in fear of the extremely unlikely. It's utter nonsense to base one's perspectives on outrageously unlikely craziness like that. It just does not happen. Sadly what does happen is people getting their knickers in a knot worrying about it as if it were even remotely likely.

I say yell at 'em. Way too many people fail to stand up for what's right, and that lets the idiots wreck it for the rest of us.

Ummm don't be so sure about that. We live 10 minutes from the former murder capital of the world Gary Indiana! I see crazy stuff like this everyday of my life in the paper. And when you say this just doesn't happen, it actually did last summer. The man was beaten to within an inch of his life, and the guy atempted to rape his wife. The guy then follow him back to our marina from the beach we hang out on and beat him some more till the cops finally showed up. I figure most of the anti-gun people willing to toss out there opions live in their suburban utopia of rainbows and gum drops, but there is a real world out there with real people wanting to do you harm especially when they think your rich because you have a boat or they are drunk and think your wife is sexy.

Now if you will excuse me I feel the need to go buy another 1000 rounds of ammo where I will store it in my survival bunker while I pace back and forth till the voices in my head sudside :D

LOCAL HEADLINE OF THE DAY! Too bad this 88 year old man wasn't living in Kearney's utopia, instead he got car jacked and murdered. This must be fake.

we get a lot of these guys in the no wake zone here in Colorado. Seems to mostly be PWC renters that dont know any better. I flagged one down waving my orange flag at him this weekend. He figured it out.

Move to South Florida you don't need a CCW if you have it in a locked compartment on your boat or car. On person yes you need CCW. When it comes to Firearms and carry I can sum it up in one simple sentence. I'd rather have a gun and not need it ,than need a gun and not have it! 8) 8) Joe from Miami. Glock 23 40 S&W Fourth Gen

If you pose the question do I have enough ammo? You need to go out and buy more ammo!! Lol!! The voices in my head subside hahaha that is beautiful. Look at Chicago the tightest gun laws and the most horrible violence and mayhem. Gangs love strict gun laws makes sure they are the only ones carrying weapons. Those gangs from Chicago come to Miami and they turn pansy overnight! Everyone and their grandmother carry guns in Miami! 8)

I had the same problem about 10 years ago. A moron causing a huge wake that caused my boat to get slamed against the dock and scratched the crap out of the side. Aside from yelling out slow down I got his ID numbers I turned it into my insurance. Great thing was the honered my claim and went after the other guy. I can tell you I was not the only claim turned in that day.

What the heck is going on here?? I'm not sure if it's the dragging economy, high unemployment, or the slow decay of moral decency but I can't get over how rude/crazy people are acting on the lake this year. Is any one else dealing with this :?: It is a very noticeable difference from last year.

As far as yelling at people for the no wake...I will pass. As someone suggested I have already put out the extra bumpers and that will have to do. I think yelling will just turn me into the target, and honestly that's not something I need at the one place we go to relax. Although the hidden bull horn with siren noise might still happen because I'm sure that would make for some great entertainment. Of course if this happens I promise to post video's. In fact I think that could make for a happy ending to a post that has slid off track and gotten volatile at times on a normally friendly, peaceful, and informative forum. Can anyone recommend a good bull horn with a remote sounding device? :D

Not really "boat" related, However, here is what just happened to me last Friday after my drive up to the cottage for out vacation. Typically I head into town near (Farwell/Clare) for food and other odds and ends. Im driving down the main two lane highway and all of the sudden a white Chevy Blazer jams his breaks on and I end up swerving into the gravel off the side of the road! Im pretty sure I wasn't tail gating, just cruising along in no hurry whatsoever. After all, I just started my vacation!! So, I get back onto the road realizing that there is no one in front of this blazer for several miles a head. So, obviously Im a little ticked and can't resist talking to myself and throw an arm up and say "what the &^%$!!!" I continue my trip into town with this blazer in front of me for a while before they turn off into a bank, as I pass them, two big hillbillies flipping me the bird and cussing out the window at me. One mile down the road from them I end up at one of my stops I need to make. I go into the hardware store for about 10 min, come out, get into my truck and pull up to the main road turn further towards town and guess who I see? Those idiots in the blazer going the same direction I need to go, again flipping me off and everything else. I head down the road one block and decide that I don't want to risk in gauging with these guys since Im by myself. So I turn onto a side street to turn around and before you know it, they're behind me, right on the bumper of my truck. So I head in the direction of our cottage with the plan of hitting the grocery store before home. Three miles before the grocery store and while being taunted by these bastards they finally turn off onto a side street and I continue onto the store. Im in the store for about 30 minutes and come out and guess who is in the parking lot next to my truck??? You got it!!!! With people walking in and out of the store, they're calling me everything but a white man, telling me they are going to kick my ass right here and now. Needless to say, this drew a bit of attention as people where stopping to see what the yelling was about. What could I do??? I could only hope they didn't get out of the car to try and physically hurt me. I blew them off for the most part and in the end they finally left me alone.

Towards the end of the day I was reflecting back on what had happened and how it made me feel, which bring me to the moral of my story. This could have turned out really bad for me and for what reason, I don't know, I never did anything to them. I do know that you can't always trust people any longer. After being stalked by two hillbillies and thinking about how this could have turned out, its been decided for the first time in my 40 years.

1) I went and obtained my permit to purchase from my local sherifs department.
2) Purchased a GLOCK 19
3) Signed up for a couple of gun safety courses and an advanced CPL class

Guns are not always the answer, and I would plan to run from a situation or drive my truck in this case until Im out of gas first before pulling a hand gun. However, In the end I have a family that I need to come home to, and also take care of. The world is defiantly changing and people are becoming a little more on edge, and I don't want to become a victim of a senseless crime.

I have been a CHL holder for many years and pretty much always have one with me. In this day and age, you have to do what you have to do to protect yourself. They could have been crazed idiots (seems like they were to me) looking for a fight....a two on one situation isnt likely to come out very well.

The G19 is my second favorite carry gun, next to my G23 (I prefer .40SW)....so congrats on that. Having the gun brings a lot of responsibility to yourself. Make sure you attend some training as you said you would and continue to practice. Most importantly, be aware of your surroundings at all times.

I am a gun owner and love it. BUT, to me, guns are NOT the answer!! They are a last thing you want to do. Yes, if you "run from a situation or drive" do it. If something goes wrong, your shot or in jail!! If you pull it, make sure you have the mind set to pull the trigger. But, if you are going to carry, a 40cal it is a little big. A 380 is small framed with enough power to "stop" not to kill anyone. Don't take me wrong, a 22 will kill you. But a 380, will do less damage than a 38 or 40 cal. When your asked, what did you try to do " tried to stop him not to kill him". It takes a trained person to piont, pull the trigger, and kill some one. Most of use don't have it in us to do that. We will hesatate and get your selfs killed in doing so.

Just a note: I would also use hollow pionts, not so much for the stopping power, but it will break up and do less damage to any one else.
