I have a 10 year old concept 0 and the motor will only operate in the "up" direction. I have dissassembled the motor casing and can only turn the motor freely in one direction.

1) Any ided of what may be the problem and/or can it be fixed?

2) What is the best replacement without modifying the deck openings? I cannot seem to find an available concept 0.

One of the other boaters, at my club had the same problem. He take it to a "car" place that works only on starter and alternators. He was supsized that they would work on it, but they told him "YES, it is no different than working on a starter." Maybe, you could do the same?

I would try e-mailing or calling Lewmar, to see what current model would fit your boat.
