Not a Four Winns in this post. But, a few of you may remember I mentioned Glastron will bring back some of the styling of the late 60's 70's boats in some of their new models for 2012. They will be termed, "collectors edition" models, with limited production. Here is the first one. A 2012 GT160, there will also be a bowrider version made. I like it !!

Full production begins in September for the GT160. There will also be 4 other models in the "Collector's" series.

Outboards are not my cup of tea, but I will admit, those are some good looking boats! Any idea of the price point of these?

Just a wild guess. Mid 20's. But building only 55 models of each type, so could even approach 30K.

Price seems about right I suppose, but only building 55 of each....seems like an expensive R&D project for limited sales. Interesting.

Simply the cost of a marketing experiment, if they sell well, which I think they will, then Glastron has proven the styling is popular enough to carry on in future designs.

Love the look especially the interior but I would like them a whole lot more if they had a V8 I/O with thru hull exhaust!! IMO I think the outboard detracts from the look of this boat.

Cool looking, like the classic Glastrons....
I especially like how they color coordinated the outboard, to the hull color scheme!
As far as looks, well it's a personal thing, but for us salt water boaters Outboards do not look bad, what looks bad, is an outdrive/transom mount after about 10 years in salt water, even after 2 or so days each year of scraping barnacles, and 3-4 days of sanding, priming, painting, etc. This year, I did the OD paint job according to Interlux instructions, not slop on a quick coat like the yard does. Still got growth, 3 coats of Primocon, 2 coats of Trilux. The stuff just does not work great here....
So bring on the Outboards.....

If I was looking at a boat in this size range, I would prefer outboard power over I/O power even in the fresh water boating we do.

Just ease of maintainence, more cockpit space, tilt lower unit right our of water if need be and less $ to maintain and winterize.

Love my duoprops in our 328, but have not seen any 328's with twin outboards yet. :)

Mike.

Yes... that's cool enough! I have some old Glastron ties, and very old finned fiberglass runabouts, so I may be biased....

That styling in a stern drive would be quite nice.

Is that the 8 Ball Bar in the background of the third picture? I've never seen so many scars on a stripper in all of my life.....

Dave...yes it is. Glastron stuff all over Cadillac this week. That place was also known as the Stopless Topless back in the day. You want to see some ugly trailer park chicks, that is the play to go.
