Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum. We have just perchasesed an 01 298 vista and I thought while we wait for delivery I could take care of getting the new name done.

I was hoping you guys could help me with a few measurements. All I'm really looking for is the measurements of the transom storage door, like in-between the two latches, the height from the bottom of the transom storage door to the lateral line that goes through it and then from there up to the top of the door and then from the starboard side of the door to the hole for the shoreline.

We decided on the name "Wild 'n' Nauti" because it's a slight play on our last name Wildman.

I believe the transom storage door is 30" X 12". From the port side of the door it's only 7.5" down until you hit the shore power cord entrance.

FWIW, that area is pretty small, you'll want your boat name a lot bigger and towards the starboard. Don't worry about the transom access impeding the letters, my opinion is you'll want it larger than the storage locker hatch.

That works! I put "Stir Crazy" in script, in the center of mine and it came out looking too small IMO. I think the font you're using works much better than my choice. I need to do the photo shop thing like you did this winter and come up with better sizing.

I had the measurements written in iPhone notes and I had 30" X 12" for the model year 2000 - 298V. Of course there might have been a few beers in me! The picture of Steve's transom locker looks smaller than what's on mine. I plan on being at the boat this weekend and will again check dimensions and try to get you some pics. Don't custom order anything yet!

Sorry, we did not go up to the lake this weekend and going to Hilton Head this week, so will be awhile before I'm back at the boat. I did look at some pics of mine and the transom locker does look like Steve's pic that you were using. Don't know why I thought mine was larger?

But anyway, I am certain it's more than 21" wide like you had figured. I truly believe the 30" width is correct.

Why? All I have is Ju Ju (in cursive) on my transom and it ran over the edge but it was professionally done. Hire a professional as the cost is minimal and get them to do your registration numbers too so they match. That transom hatch area is way too small for what you want to do.

I'm just impatient. We are very excited to finally get our 298 for this long weekend. I'll wait and double check how it might look on just the transom storage door.
