Well it looks like it will now pretty much miss my area of Southern Florida now -- When you live down here you learn to wait just a bit before jumping ---- particularly in the last few years.

Sitting and waiting for now....the trailer is prepped in case we decided to yank her out. My old man has a 240 Signature (Chaparral) and we'd tag team, mine first (because I own the truck) and his second....

I am in the Long Beach Island area in Barnegat Bay New Jerey. My Marina is sheltered from the bay also in a small cove. My worry is my boat is moored just on the bulkhead. No pilings on the other side to tie off to so i am afraid the boat will just constantly slam into the wall. Should i pull it? This is my first boat and first experience with a possibly major storm. This brings me to another question... how stable are boats once on the trailer? Do i need to take it a good distance inland? Any advice from someone with experience is greatly appreciated!

I'm no expert Rader but I'm a weather buff and my wife's an editor for a yachting magazine and I like to read the weather related articles including the unpublished ones. I can gaurantee this. If you have the ability to trailer your boat away from the storm, you WILL win. Those that can't wont be as fortunate.

God bless to all of the memers that have to ride this thing out.

Pull it out!! AS OF RIGHT NOW! You will be hit with a Cat 2 storm, me in Boston, a Cat 1. I have the trailer ready to go. IF and I do mean IF it is down graded it to a Trop Storm, than I will leave it on the mooring. Remember too, it's not just the wind, its the waves and rain too. At least on land, it can't sink.

Latest update I saw was that Long Island had better batten down by Sunday. And the worst case is that NYC may really be in for it due to the surge coming in along the north side of LI and being forced into the Hudson.

Exactly I have three neighbors that put all their shutters up except the rear and front of their homes. I haven't put any shutters up and I am glad I kept my cool it doesn't look like it's going to be an issue. My boat is on the trailer tied up good and tight although wondering if I should leave the covers on . I have them on now and I would rather not take them off but I definitely don't want them blowing away. Well everyone up north I hope you all well with your homes and your boats. Hopefully she turns more to the east and doesn't impact land but we will have to wait and see. 8) Joe in South Florida

Only an idiot would leave his boat in the water until Sunday if they had a trailer. I'd be pulling that sucker tonite, to avoid the rush and protect my investment.

I have a lot of friends that live in Nassau, bahamas. They've been off the radar communication wise for a day now

Just pulled her out. Ocean City (South Jersey) not charging for ramp to pull out. Ow the 40 mile tow. Good Luck all.

Pulled my junk today at high tide, was a bit windy but I did it today to avoid the rush. Didn't see anyone else pulling boats at all. We only have maybe a 2 hr window around the tides (high is every 12 hrs) so didn't want to wait till tomorrow....

As of 11am today it will hit Boston about 12 to 1am on Monday. So I think I am going to wait until Sunday morning (8 or 9am) to decide. Pull it or mooring?? Also the storm has been down graded, NJ will "now" see a Cat 1 and Boston a Trop. storm. BUT, it is still a waiting game!!

I'd still pull it, hurricanes are by their nature fickle and change direction suddenly. On a rotating mooring, a boat is generally safer than on a dock in a storm, but you still have to worry about canvas, other boats breaking free, etc.
I'm going to to some PM on mine, after the storm passes. I found my water intakes almost completely blocked with barnacles despite 2 brushed on coats of Trilux....

My deck would have to be at least 13'6" for me to put the boat under it.

I am planning to be on the boat Saturday & sleeping on it at the slip. I am bring the trailer with me no matter what. So I will be playing it by ear. The club could say on Saturday "All boats out, evacuate"
