Maybe this will convince anyone who procrastinates.

If my boat didn't have a trailer, I'd pay a hauler to take it hundreds of miles out of the way and block her,,Period!

Keep in mind, this video is in Nova Scotia and Earl was only a tropical depression at this point.

It is a VERY bad idea to sleep on the boat in the event of bad weather. You're putting yourself in a danger for, what? Property?

If weather kicks up and pulls loose decking on the piers you end up stranded. Or worse. Like other boats getting loose and hitting yours or making it impossible to safely get yours out of the way. And don't forget what happens to traffic, every other last minute idiot jamming up the roads. Like someone with a boat on a trailer trying to do something stupid like take a U-turn or drive on the shoulder, then the whole road gets blocked. Not that anyone here would do that...

You have the time, pull it and leave the area while you're not going to put yourself in danger. Better to pull it while it's clear and sunny, not slippery and rainy.

Property is replaceable, life is not.

Good advice from BK. Heed it.

Maybe the written word is not convincing enough, possibly pictures will help get the point across.

Quote from Morgan "Maybe the written word is not convincing enough, possibly pictures will help get the point across."

Point well taken, that I know. You don't get to live in New England and not have seen a few Nor'easters. Bob & "The No Name" storm, were no joke up here. Were do you think the move "The Perfect Storm" came from?? The last storm 4 or 5 weeks ago, we got hit with 60MPH winds.

Please remember too, that I said "So I will be playing it by ear.", "I am bring the trailer with me no matter what." and "The club could say on Saturday All boats out, evacuate"

So if needed, I would be there to help out the club or other boaters and remove my boat. And the club has!! All boat must be out of there slips by 6pm Saturday. We should see the start of the storm, about 2-3pm Sunday as of right now.

Again, its a waiting game. But, the wait is almost over. Tomorrow at 8 or 9 am, mooring or trailer?? That is the question!! And as of right now, it looks like the trailer. The good side is, out of 164 slips, around 40 slips have trailable boats. The boat next to me is a 44 footer. So most are going out on there moorings.

I have 10k full coverage with $1000 deductible for "named storm" damage on my 2000 H180 from BoatUS for $300 a year (normal damage AKA not "named storm" is $250 deductible, plus tons of medical, tow, etc).

Bring it!

I am at the NWB site right now. As of 8am, all the models are showing it to hit about 50 to 70 miles west of Boston. BUT, it will still be "direct hit here in Boston" Because we will get hit with the "right" side of this storm. Were all the wind will be!!

Our Marina (Blue Water) in Ocean City sent the mandatory pull'em message late yesterday afternoon....

Ramp was getting nuts when we pulled my old man's Chaparral out. Must have passed at least 27 trucks with trailers headed in the direction we left. Hopefully a tree doesn't fall on her now!

I pulled mine yesterday, there are still a lot of boats in the harbor behind my house now, that did surprise me but with the tides, the local ramp is only really usable (unless you have a roller trailer and and older 4x4 you don't mind getting wet!) at high tide, or about an 1hr before and an hr after. The water drops 6-7 feet from high to low, so that's about 1 foot drop per hour or so. I could have waited till today (nicer day) yesterday it was windy and threatening to rain, but I did it then to avoid the rush. The only other thing people could do is drive the boat over to the town dock in Huntington LI were they have 2 nice wide ramps that could be used at low tide
That doesn't leave much time, and there must be at least 50 boats out there....
My boat has been on the mooring during tropical storm force winds, but not as intense as what's being forecast for this one. Why take the chance, I say. And it gives me time to do a little mid season maintenance. Let's hope the docks are still there on Monday.....

Our boat is in Mystic, we pulled it yesterday. I work for the power company in CT so its a lose lose for me, boat pulled for Labor Day and I'll most likely be working into next weekend anyway.

Everyone saty safe and DO NOT go near ANY downed power lines, they may appear dead but then again you may be!

I pulled my boat Thursday evening. Didn't wait for any advice guess I'm not an idiot! I was the first at my marina , of the larger boats anyway to go. Lucky for me, on the way down to get her they posted the mandatory evac for LBI the following morning at 8 a.m. Don't think they would have let me get to the marina! Wasn't fun strong t'storms hit as we were at the ramp. (of course!). If I didn't have bad luck I wouldn't have any at all. Got it out safe and sound though just a little wetter than when I started. Good luck to everyone on the coast looks like it's gonna be a rough one! Hope I still have a slip come Monday!

What a joke. I bet after it hits Hatteras there won't be much left of this storm. You Yank's have Nor'easters that have more power than this one will.

Just got back from pulling my boat. Didn't want to take a chance of it breaking loose from the mooring.

I was pretty disgusted though....no marine patrol or fish & game at the ramp. It was a zoo. Can't imagine what it will be like tomorrow. (not to mention we had to go through it twice...once for my boat and once for my brother's).
