In the video that boat broke free due to poor rigging not cause the weather. That wasn't anything extreme enough to snap proper dock lines.

I tend to agree. The boat probably belongs to "that guy"....you know the one I am talking about...the guy that uses the boat twice a year on holidays, never washes it, never does anything, but is yet SO surprised to climb aboard and discover things are not the way he expects and things magically dont work....

Yup.. and his boat is tied off with http://www.harborfreight.com/3-8-eighth ... 92463.html

The information I provided was published by Boat US, and I merely posted it for informational purposes. Obviously it was of no use to anyone here. I should have known better.[/quote

Heck I liked the info and video!

Have the 298 back at the dock...finally...still quite a bit of debris from Irene! Time to flip the new bilge pump switch!

Strange storm to say the least and very inconsistent with respect to damage. Some areas got nailed and others didn't get anything. Fooled me because I thought it was going to wimper up the East Coast once it hit North Carolina and then got back over cooler waters.

Just when you think it's clear, tropical storm Katia is a brewin. It's early yet but it's predicted to be a category 3 by Sunday and taking aim at Hatteras,,,,,for now anyways.

We had a LOT of damage given that it was really only a strong Tropical Storm when it came across Long Island, the track was about 10 miles to the west of us and the winds were not so bad, but many trees came down, we only just got our power back at 7:30 tonight, lost it Sat night about 3 AM. Getting a generator after this one. My boat I pulled, but many boats were left in and as they are all on rotating moorings here they were all OK since they can move with the wind and waves....

That is nice to hear that your boat is safe. I hope it is not someone from this forum that would be terrible. It is also really sad to see how many people have lost their lives across Hurricane Irene's path.

When you get your generator just remember to do one thing to keep it running year after year make sure the fuel has a shutoff from the gas tank to the carb if it doesn't install one. You leave it running shut the fuel off and let it keep running until it shuts off on it's own and you never have the problems most people have with their generators with their gummed up carbs. I have seen the permanent installed versions on homes and after I went through Andrew I knew that wasn't the way to go. Not really feasible to have a five thousand dollar generator system in your home when the roof has blown off definitely get a portable.
