Sounds interesting I will have to check into it a little more. Finally it looks like I will be able to spend some time on the boat this weekend not much but some and hopefully I will get this figured out. Also, finally scored a great tow vehicle which I didn't have since I purchased the carriage before the horse. Overall I am very happy with everything looking good for me finally getting her out on the water at least twice a week if weather permits.

Got the hatch open with two people helping, kept it open with a mopstick of all things. Tried to charge the batteries all the battery charger does is go to 100 percent and back to 0 charge blinking all the lights so I just finished pulling the batteries and tried to charge each one separately and all I see is blinking lights back to 0 and 100 percent charge. Threw them in the back of my truck and headed to autopart store to see if it's my charger. I have to give kudos!! to four winns in how they designed the 2008 h220ss because the engine compartment is huge!! And the batteries are really easy to remove it took less than 30 minutes to get them out while sipping on a cold one. I hope the batteries are fried and nothing else more serious is wrong with my girl. Will keep you all posted thanks for the help guys.

If you need to replace, the best batteries I ever used for the boat are the Deka dual purpose ones I've had about 4 years now, they are gp 27s and hold a charge very well....

And if you already have Interstate batteries, and can find an Interstate store, they pro-rate any replacement.

Evilz hopefully I can get this resolved I only get to have the boat at home on weekends to work on too busy during the week. I haven't heard my engine on in so long I forgot what it sounds like. Closest interstate batteries is 2 miles away can you believe it I am so happy I better be because tomorrow I might not be I  am sure they are going to be expensive!

I hope it works out for you - I have always had great luck with the Interstate folks.

Thanks Louc I will see which route is more cost efficient. Now I took the old batteries out and they were both cranking batteries, the admiral says she saw a multipurpose battery that sounds better suited for our use. Not sure which way to go now headed to interstate to see what they can do for me. Crossing my fingers!!

Turns out I went to one of their authorized vendors and they said they only prorate them if you purchased the batteries from them which I didn't they came with the boat. I am thinking maybe going to one of the interstate battery stores will be my best bet I will do that tomorrow. The saga continues....

Cranking batts once they go dead, can be tough to bring back. That's why the dual purpose batt is a good choice, but for some late model engines they specify only cranking batts because a dual purpose batt or pure deep cycle may not have enough cranking amps for modern EFI engines. If you have a batt charger (a must for anyone who owns a boat) try to leave em on the charger and see if they come back up to charge. I was able to do this once with a starting batt that was pretty dead.
If the dual purpose batts have enough cranking amps , I'd use em.

Well I took your advice Louc and I have them both in my garage one on the charge right now. I started thinking about what you wrote and I checked the Acid inside for specific gravity. Turns out all 12 of the cells are testing at 1.225 or fair on the tester. I grabbed a piece of wood laid the batteries on top ,topped them off and one of them is bubbling up quite nicely. Maybe there isn't anything wrong with them I hope. I have a fan in the garage
And my garage door and windows are open because it must be doing something I can smell the fumes a bit pointing fan out the garage door. Thanks Louc , how long did you leave each battery on the charger? I have a 2008 220SS. With the 5.7 Volvo penta not sure what they prefer but it has two interstate part number 27M- XHD. They both read marine cranking, 1000 cranking amps each at 32 f. 182 reserve

The Interstate 27M-XHD is an outstanding battery. I just bought two new ones this year. The originals were still taking a good (not excellent) charge after nearly 6 years, with long winters and no off-season maintenance.

The lower the charge on a battery, the more fumes it will produce when charging. If you can smell it, it's a good idea to ventilate.

For sure ventilate it, that smell is hydrogen gas. I think it took between 4-6 hrs on the charger. This batt (just happened to also be an Interstate) was in my wife's Subaru and the alt went bad on it, causing the batt to go bad too. Well not wanting to have my wife get stuck somewhere, I got her a new batt seeing as how this one was at least 5 years old. Then I never got around to bringing it back to the auto parts store for the trade in. Then I thought, what the heck, let me put it on the charger and see what happens. Sure enough it came back. So I kept it as a spare batt in case the batt for one of our 3 cars fails, that way I can at least drive to the auto parts store to get a new one. And I use it to power my tire inflator for the trailer since the ones for the vehicles will not reach back to where I keep the trailer...

Thanks I definitely had the air flowing I have been researching into investing in a solar energy system for my home and I read some horror stories about the battery packs explodind. 230 mike and louc you think if these don't take a charge I should purchase the same ones new, I am interested in those dual purpose batteries they look better suited for boat usage.

The 27M-XHD is a dual purpose battery. Others might disagree, but when my originals were due for replacement I didn't even shop around, but just bought two more of the same. For a pair of batteries to hold a charge the way those did for 7 months of long, frigid winter, year after year, with only a spring charge top-off, really impressed me.
