I just found out my sump tray is cracked around one of the fittings and of course the one for the galley sink. I was thinking of trying to repair it with Marine Tex epoxy. Any tips or suggestions?

Thanks,
John

I fixed mine with plastic repair epoxy (all I had in the garage at the time) and its been holding for a year and 110 hours, the nipple for the AC drain broke off completely on mine. I just sanded it a little, cleaned it well and C-clamped it tight for 24 hours. I'm sure marine-tex will work fine. Also wire tied the hoses so the AC hose wasnt flopping around over wakes, I'm sure thats what broke it.

One of them broke on my sump a while ago. I drilled out the hole and put in a through-hull sort of fitting I picked up at West Marine. Slathered a bunch of 5200 around the fitting when installing it. It's held since and doesn't leak (which is more than can be said for the box lid)

I was tired of the lid leaking, so I replaced mine with and Atwood sump. It has a nice gasketed cover that doesnt leak.

Update: More than one fitting was broken or cracked. Soooo, I removed it and carefully ruffed up the areas to be epoxied with coarse sand paper, thorouly cleaned it and gave it a final cleaning with brake cleaner. Let it dry and epoxied it and let it sit 24 hours.

I was very very careful when installing it and then it happened "SNAP" and the discharge fitting busted. Let me tell you, these things fly quite well,,,,it hasn't been seen since

Jsimon,
I have that same sump and it will leak if it over flows. It has a vent tube in front where the water will drain out into bilge. I hate it. I wonder if it would affect the fill rate if it was capped off. I'd rather see it back up in a drain then dump in my bilge.

I would use West System and glass cloth. One will bond it & the other give it strength.

Update: The wifey ordered a new Attwood through Amazon.com and after using a gift card she had and free shipping to her mothers in PA we got it for under 50 bux canadian funds. Just got home from Pennsyltuckey and can't wait to try it out. It's brand new with full warranty and I'll let ya'll know how it works next week.

It's nice having the Canuck buck with some bang for a change

John
