I need help winterizing my 2004 Vista 268. It is stored in the water and has a mercruiser engine with the 3-point drainage system. Water runs continuously through the seawater pump when the two plugs are removed. The manual says to turn off the seacock before draining but after intense search I don't see a seacock. Mechanics have told me that it may not have a seacock and I may need to crimp the seawater hose to keep the lake water from running in. Has anyone experienced this or can anyone verify that some 268's do not necessarily have a seacock? Thanks!

Some Mercs do have a 2nd pick-up for cooling, with a seacock. It is made for warm water boating to aid in more raw water that the drive can pick up. It sounds like you have a closed system, yes??

Thanks for the reply. No, it is not a closed system.

I have not seen a seacock for engine cooling water on a 268. It should all come via the outdrive.

I've looked at a few Mercs also. It is very uncommon for outdrive boats to have seacocks for engine cooling water.

Thanks again for your responses! Yes, I am pretty much certain it does not have a seacock and if that is the case how do I stop the water from coming in?
