I have a 2008 V288 with two Volvo 5.0GXi engines.
I am trying to find out what are the different anodes I need for this boat? How many? any part numbers?
Can anyone help me?

Thanks
Yassine

Will you be using it in fresh, salt or brackish water?

It depends on where you boat. Salt Water, Fresh Water or Brackish water. That will determine what anodes you need.

This site will give you part #'s.

I don't see any anodes that say there for a GXI drive. I know they don't care everthing for a Volvo. I have a XDP drive & I have talked to Bob there (about 6 weeks ago), and they are getting more anodes in around Febuary to complet the Volvo line.

I would call & talk to Bob, he might have what you need. Maybe what is listed on the site will fit you'er drive!

That is because there is no such thing as a GXi drive. The engines are 5.0L GXi.

My mistake on the engine, SORRY. Volvo is new to me!!

But, maybe I am missing something. if you have a 5.0 GXI engine and you need anodes for it or for the drive I should say. Than how do you know what to look up at there site?? I did not want to put foot in mouth, which I am very good at doing!! So I called Bob.

I taked to Bob, with the engine size, you can not look them up at his site. Bob states that the 5.0 GXI only came with the a XDP drive on it. Which he will have in stock in about 4 to 6 weeks.

The part #s are:
3861634A
3861636A
872793A
3858995 for the heat exchanger if you have the stock closed system.

That statement is incorrect. The 2008 V288 with Volvo Penta 5.0L GXi engine had the following drive choices:

SX drive
DP Drive.
See for yourself here.

The dreaded XDP drive only came on the 5.0L Si engine

So, if the part numbers you posted are actually for the XDP (Composite) Drive, they will not work on the DP or SX drive.
All he needs to do is look up what drives he has on the boat, and then buy the correct anodes for that drive. Simple.

As to what drive or drives came with that 5.0 GXi. Well you GOT me!! Yes, I could use your link, but I believe you!

I will say that the XDP drive is on my 2007 5.7L engine too. So it's on more than one engine that I know of. Thats how I know the part#s.

Yes, call Bob with the type of drive and your done.

In simple terms - for salt water use Zinc anodes, for brackish water use Aluminum, for fresh water use Magnesium.

Go to http://www.marinepartsexpress.com/ and search for your drive type - SX or DuoProp - and it will have the part numbers for all types, or give them a call.
