Hey guys,

Last year, I moved over to a new marina, which is better-maintained, cleaner, more fun, and has more amenities than my previous two marinas. The problem is it also has tons of spiders, and not just the tiny guys that can fit on your pinky, no, no. These monstrosities have small bodies but really long legs that can span the size of your palm. My wife woke up during one of our overnights to find one of these demon-spawn crawling along her leg.

By the end of the Summer, the cabin was pretty much infested with them, or at least it seemed that way. We were killing them for a while, but more always took their place.

My question, obviously, is what can we do to eliminate these pests from our boat once and for all.

Thanks

We're over run with the damn things here in Canada too. I spray my dock fingers and lines every couple of weeks. For the ones that do get through my perimeter, I keep a vapona strip in the cabin and one on the aft deck.

I'm lost on how to deal with the ones that drop down from the roof of the covered slip and crap all over my gel coat though,,,any suggestions for the ones that think they're spider man?

It's been so long, I actually miss the damn things

Thanks!

There are two products referenced in that link: Ortho Home Defense and Spectracide Bug Stop. Which is better?

Also, how often should I have to apply?

Spiders are a huge pain at our marina. I am under cover and in a weeks time my boat is covered in spider waste. Ours are primarily a thin bodied spider but they are everywhere. One of the boats is owned by an exterminator. Everyone uses a product called Tempo to control them. It is expensive and pretty caustic. They spray all summer and I don't really know if it helps much.

I use home defense. It's always the last thing I do when leaving the boat at the end of the weekend. Spray all dock lines, fenders..etc, and I even spray the perimeter of the dock as well. Never had a problem.

Anyone have some old DDT laying around, that will take care of the problem. May take out a few fish when the dead spiders fall into the water...
