Need some guidance on how to remove the Raymarine 218 radio. I believe I may have a loose connection or bad ground since I can only transmit not receive; at least I hope. Tried to remove the radio, there is no access panel to the instrument cluster. Tried to pop the front cover off the radio, did not appear possible without damage. Has anyone accomplished the task of removal for either replacement or repair. :(

Remove the guage panel/dash area. It comes out with a couple of screws, then, you can access what you need from the hole in the middle for the GPS unit.

+1. That is to say you have a chartplotter/radar unit. If not, I'm not sure if there is a false plate.

I'm new to this Forum. I will take a look at removing the dash panel. Thanks for the input.

I don't mean the chartplotter, I mean the entire gauge cluster if needed.

I had to remove the right side switch bank to gain access to the darn fuse holder for the remote spotlight. For whatever reason fell apart behind the dash.

Anyway i had to remove the chartplotter to gain access to anything. The switch bank had 4 studs thru the dash with nuts behind. I believe the guage cluster is the same way. I remember trying to take the VHF out instead but that was a b@tch too!

It was a couple hour job by time I replaced the fuse holder and buttoned it all back up.

Oh and congrats Cougar on the soon comming little one! My wife and I recently became grandparents!
