Hoses don't last forever. When they age they tend to weep fumes. They start to feel a bit spongy. One way to check a suspect hose is to wrap a wet paper towel around it. Let the towels dry, peel them off and check for smell. Same trick applies for waste hoses.

Everything is accessible, but sometimes only after removing what might look to be 'fixed' surfaces around it. Might take removing a lot of other materials first but you can generally get anything out without having to cut fiberglass. Might be worth shooting an e-mail to the factory asking how to specifically remove that tank. Be sure to include your Hull ID number (HIN) as that helps them look up the specific build sheet for it.

well we do know that the gas leak is coming from the tank or the hoses behind the firewall the mechanic is going down this week to cut out the fire wall and see what it is. Also I did find a tank access in the aft cabin and found out that the tank is plastic.

good for you, easy repair, might as well get him to replace all the old lines while he is at it. I didn't think it was the tank based on the age of the boat. Only way that could happen with the plastic tank is if the mounting system failed and let it slide around in there.

I have a 1991 ,235 vista with a fuel leak , found no leaks in any hoses . Drained the tank & filled it with water to eliminate fumes when I cut the floor from the mid cabin to access the aluminum tank . Had to remove lots of trim & carpet from the midcabin , removed the micro wave & cabinet to be able to get tank out . The very bottom of the tank at the rear had pin holes allowing fuel to drip from the tank area to the bilge . Felt lucky I was able to remove it with out an explosion . Tank is away having a new bottom welded in .

No luck to find a new aluminum /plastic tank for this boat but I think the repair will be costly, boat is not worth much with fuel leak ,not wanting my name in the obituaries so I'm biting the bullet .
