Did a test run with the battery condition gauge, I learned one thing... all the little blade connectors have developed a slight coating of oxidation on them causing the voltage to fluctuate on the gauge panel. I might have to replace all crimp on connectors under the helm, or at least use an electrical contact cleaner. I got the ones on the starter switch clean so the battery gauge reads right at least.

Oh, and it's really freaking cool. I used my radio all day yesterday with no cares in the world while beached up with friends. After all day, still had a good 75% left!

Rick post a pic with the gauges installed. Dying to see how they look. Did you do the overlay? I hate the wood on mine, but not sure how well the overlay will look.

Well, just going through my boat fixing the odds and ends. Replaced the bunks on the new trailer with treated 2x6's. The carbon fiber is finally delivered as of today. Also ordered a new horn because mine has decided to quit. Amazon has the original AFI one as per the four winns parts book for $18 shipped. Awesome price. West Marine wanted $60.

Also turns out they sell a chrome plated grill. Sweet!

Taking my boat out to the St. John's River on Sunday with a few other friends with their boats. Should be a good time.

I'm really going to try and take the gray gauge panel off so i can carbon it that way. Four Winns sells the part, but I think it's glued on. I didn't see bolts but I'll double check.

Where are you launching and how far are you planning to go?

We're launching at the Sanford i4 boat ramp. I think we're going to go as far north as 44 and grabbing food/drinks at the Lake Beresford Yacht Club. Nothing too far mileage wise (9ish) but it's pretty much all no wake zone the whole way. Easily a 1hr trip each direction. Might stop at Blue Springs State Park and chill with the manatees too. So far it's 3 boats and 2 jet ski's. Might be more. 100% chance of getting stopped by the water pigs so everything has to be perfect.

I lived in Sanford for 2 years while my wife went to flight school. We rented a 'toon from a marina in Sanford and took it as far as Blue Springs SP. Sounds like a fun trip.

Yes, the whole river is a regulated speed. Most areas are 25mph, but a lot are no wake. I bring a map with me of the latest and updated zones (changed all the time). If you're unsure of how fast you should be going, there's plenty of law enforcement officials to tell you you're wrong, search your boat, and write you tickets.

Stupid manatees.

They are called sea cows (manatees). And damn near everyone of them has a prop scar on their back. They are real slow movers and sometimes you cannot see them if the water is not clear.

I do believe they knew that. Very 60's (for those of us that were there) Glad we grew out of it.
