Folks,

I sold my Vista 248 after being listed for 1 day. I hope the new owners don't screw it up.

I purchased a 2012 Yamaha 242 Limited S. Looking forward to less maintenance ... although I'm sure I will figure out how to get myself involved in some "needed" upgrade.

Thanks to all of you for the suggestions / information / laughs. I'll be spending the majority of my online boating time on the Yamaha Board.

Calm waters,
Craig C.

Wow, that was fast!

I'm not quite sure where you got this notion that you'll have less maintenance though. Have you ever owned a two stroke jet ski???? Now imagine owning two. You're a brave, brave man. Twin engine jet boats are maintenance nightmares and keep mechanic wallets fat. Start or run that thing in under 2 feet of water under the intakes and you've just bought yourself two new impellers that cost $500+ each. If you live in an area with a bunch of weeds, you'll be under the boat with a scuba mask every day pulling them out, access hatch or not.

I have owned a few Seadoo's and Honda PWCs.

The Yamaha engines are 4 stroke. I live in north Texas and will not be in water less than 10 feet.

Supposedly, these boats require no winterizing, although I do plan to put a small bilge heater in. Oil filters, oil cap and grease zerts are all easy to get to. No outdrive to fuss with. I'll be keeping it on a lift, so no bottom paint expense.

Fewer moving parts / systems than my 248. Therefore, less maintenance overall.

Plus, it's brand new. So, the "unknown" is not there.

Thanks for your contributions over the years and best of luck with your new Yamaha!! My friend has a 242 and absolutely loves it...it's a bad little boat!

I liked the layout on the Yamaha. You won't be stranded either with the 2 engines.

The layout is amazing! With cruise GPH @ 10-11gph and WOT (50ish mph) @ 23gph.. not for the faint of heart. Someone on my lake has one, realllllly good looking boat though.

Congratulations!!!!

Thanks for all your advice and or help in the past, have enjoyed you as part of the four.

We just added another ski to the collection, the new Kawi ultra 300. What a rocket.

I am sure you will absolutely love those new yamaha motors!
We really like our jet drives for exploring in shallow water at Powell.

Those boats are everywhere out here and people seem to really like them once they get used to low speed control. It will be a change for you, but I am sure it will be fine and you will love it.

Let me know if you decide to drag her over to Lewisville....
