Hi,

I had the first ride in my recently bought Vista V258 2008.
There is Volvo 5.0 engine installed (270 hp) and I wonder what is the optimal cruising speed/RPM on this bought with this engine?
I was driving it on 3500 RPM and it was ca 27 mph.
Thanx

That should be the sweet spot depending on load.

There are plenty of other factors, such as weight of the boat, HP, gearing and props. I don't know enough about your drivetrain to give you an answer.

The 5.8 @ 4000rpms should be 35mph unless you're hauling a few tons of load. 15x17 stock prop.

I have a V258 also, a 2007. At 3500RPMs, roughly, the boat will do 23-26MPH depending on how choppy it is. Also thats at 10GPH with a 1.9 to 2.2MPG fuel flow.

Yeah they're a bit happy with their spec sheets. I know on my H180 it's pretty much 100% wrong.

Again, or at lest in the "real would." That like believing that every car in a showroom, with a MPG rating on it, is what you are going to get after you buy it. You could, but you won't.

If there "pretty much 100% wrong " Than why the "That's per four winns. You callin' them a liar??"

UNLESS I am misunderstanding you!

According to FW my H180 with a 3.0 and stock prop should do 36mph @ 4000rpms. With a 20mph tail wind, 50ft above sea level, trimmed perfect.. the best I can do at 4000rpms is exactly 30mph. I am running a Solas prop stock pitch that is 2mm bigger then factory so technically it should be spot on.

To be 6mph off spec with a perfectly running boat tells me one thing... prop slip with the cheap solas.

Or bad FW specs.

I'm thinking prop slip. I only get 2-3mph from 3500 to 4100. If I keep this boat I'm going to have to upgrade to a better prop. I'm 6-7mph slower per spec across the board.
