Enjoying my "new to me" 2009 V358 but have had some issues. My sense is that there is alot of complexity to the electrical system that I need to figure out.

Any tips on the below is greatly appreciated.

#1 Vacuflush was working great. Fresh water got down to nothing and I filled the fresh water tank... and the vacuflush is not working now, no greeen light on the switch. Don't know if this is a coincidence or not. Did it somehow lose its vacuum when the tank went empty?
Manual indicates priming pump and using faucets to make sure no air in the water system etc, and all seems fine. Don't know if power was lost to the vac gen or some breaker was tripped.

#2- Generator ran ok for several minutes the first time and then quit. Would not restart. I thought maybe a breaker had been triggered. I got in the hatch and breaker was ok. Code was LOC low coolant. The overflow bottle seemed ok, not sure how to check coolant level other than that. Or is seacock closed? Manual talks about opening seacock for water cooling but I can't find the sea cock. I turned off and on the system and the LOC went away and it tried to start but could not stay running.

#3-Horn works only intermittantly. Have read about poor horns on these. Not sure what to think.

#4- Possible Engine Sync issue. Volvo inboards. Has run for several hours on Sync with no problem. On one trip at about 90% WOT for 20 minutes, the port engine lost power and would rev from 1500 -3000 rpm over and over on its own. No throttle response on port. Otherwise gauges looked normal. Starboard engine fine. Turned sync off, turned engines off, no help. Idled to an anchoring area, shut it down for a couple hours. Restarted and all is normal. I did not use Sync (cause I suspect it was an electrical issue) and it ran normal all the way home. Since then I have not sued sync and have had no issues. Seems like a Sync problem. Advice?

Windlass breaker has tripped a few time too. Just seems like a lot of electrical issues I need to learn about.

Thanks
Eric

I think our boats are basically the same. The seacock for the genny is located in the rear berth under a seat panel. AC seacock is also there as well as a bilge pump.

Can't help you with the vacu-flush other than to say they are a huge PITA. Search vacu-flush here and you'll understand.

The windlass could have wired with a too small of a gauge wire. OR something is loading it up.

On the Vac-u-flush, the water is only use to raise the bowl. The pump should only run for about 30 to 40 secs to build by pressure to suck everthing down. It it keeps running, you have a leak somewere.

"Did it somehow lose its vacuum when the tank went empty?" There separate systems, but when you push pedal down, you are adding water (opening a valve, as in your sink turning on) and flushing all at the same time.

Regarding vacuflush issues, the post 3 July 2012, titled "not looking forward to this job", has most of the information you need.

Horn: Disconnect the wires from the horn, have someone hold the switch down and check the wires for voltage with a multimeter or 12v bulb. If you have suitable voltage at that point you might as well buy a replacement horn. The horn may look like a standard auto unit but cars and trucks have horns that pull more amps and are therefore run through a relay. A typical factory installed boat horn pulls about 3 amps, does not need a relay to cope with the wiring and switch.

Thanks for the tips, I have read some other threads about the vacuflush. The pump is not running at all.

On the vacuflush, you could very well have a breaker tripped if you dont have the green light, or the system could be working but the green pilot light on the swithch is burned out. I had mine switch do the same thing last year, no green light but it turned the pump on and off.

on the generator, if the colloant bottle is filled, then you should be ok, but to double check remove the heat exchanger cap (looks like a radioator cap) and make sure it is filled. If so, the coolant level sensor must be flakey. I have heard a bod low coolant sensor will do exactly that, it will start, run a few minutes then shut down.

Im having a slightly different issue, on the hottest days when I want the genny for the AC, the dang thing wont start, open the hatch the next day to try and figure it out and it starts right up. Has done this to me 4 different times now. Frustrating.

Horn, there is a post on here that some one has taken it apart and cleaned it. Ill be trying that myself.

Engine sync, I have nothing for you on that.

The windlass, what were you doing when it tripped? are you trying to pull the boat to the anchor with it, or driving the boat to the anchor and using the windlass to wind the rhode up?

Update, the vacuflush is working but still no green light. Seems odd that it burned out at the same time. Basically I just cleaned out the system, made sure there were no clogs. And then I had to unhook and hook up the wiring harnesses to the Vacuum generator to "reset" it I guess.

Still working on the generator, will start another thread with specific questions.

Thanks

What green light are you talking about regarding the vacuflush? On my boat and very likely yours, the vacuflush has power whenever you turn on the fresh water pump. The green light on the guage in the bathroom, is the black water (sh!t) tank level or fresh water tank level. It should be green when empty, then go yellow, orange and finally red when full.

There are 4 toggle switches above the sink. Light, head fan, flush, overboard discharge. When they are on the end of the toggle lights up green. Flush does not light anymore.

I checked mine this weekend, the pilot lights are red on all my switches. If the vacumm pump is working you just need a new switch.
